You should post your play styles, views on each army, etc. We can't just say which you should play with no info, unless someone happens to have some blatent bias for one or the other, which is not a good way to decide on an army.

Do celestial lions have a chapter approved at all? otherwise its really a case of Nilla vs. salamanders

seconded- we need to know what you like to paint and how you like to game, and which you prefer fluff-wise

Salamanders will probably be cooler.

I play both close combat armies and shootie armies (Tau Imperial Guard Blood Angles and Orks).

I like painting metallic colors, but i like the conversion possibilities of the slamanders. oh i like the fluff of the Lions a bit more than the fluff of the salamanders.

Or hotter... yuk yuk yuk.

I like salamander playing style and fluff better.

Actually I can't say that because I know nothing about the Lions.

the Celestial Lions are a "nice guy" chapter, they complained with the way a certain Inquisitor did business, then they mysteriously got given bad intel on Armageddon (III) and ended up getting slaughtered due to there being a lot more Orks than there were supposed to be, and all their Apothecaries dying to "unneringly accurate sniper fire" (which is not something that goes hand-in-hand with Orks).

So basically, the chapter was nearly wiped out thanks to an Inquisitor. other than that, and the fact they fought on Armageddon III, not much is known about them. If they were to be played as a post-Armageddon army, I would say that the Trait "Faithful Unto Death" would be good, representing a Chapter which is being built up, and so largely made up of Scouts and Tac squads.

Wow I'm the first to vote for the lions my reason there dead!! They've never had any extra gaming rules added to them so they can be your own force. Do what you like with them!

cleanse & purify, Never dispair

flesh over steel

it's the same traits as the salamanders but more infantry themed thanks to the draw back.

my thoughts hope this helps

after reading Codex: Armageddon, I found out that salamanders strike at the same time as guardsmen, so that changed how i liked them, then I remembered that I was gonna give lot of guys thunderhammers so it's OK, Arrgggg I wish I had enough cash to do both.

Under the new rules there just normal marines! They have limited fast attack opptions & two specal weapons per tactical squad instead of one. The only thing good I see about the Salamanders is the fluff!

!!Vote Lions!!

Salamanders are pretty cool, they're an oft overlooked chapter but they're really cool. They've got some awesome fluff a nice colour scheme, fantastic conversion possibilties and cool traits.

Personally I'd go for the sallys but I also have a tendency to favour 1st founding chapters over others.

I mean all the rest are just kinda wanna be's....

But in the end the choice is up to you, what will you have more fun painting and playing?
