Default Salamanderwing

Well, come summer, I'm planning on starting a new army. This idea has gone through many phazes, but right now i landed on the idea of "salamanderwing"

I priced it out, and it's not a horrible horrible price to pay to get a 1000 point army, that is fluffy, and appears to be strong.

Army list:

Master Of the deathwing (salamanders)
Termi armour Required
Termi honours
Hammer of Secrets (sword of secrets)
Storm Shield
Storm Bolter (not sure if this is legal or not, i'm not sure if the SoS counts towards the weapon total)
Bionics

Deathwing Command Squad
3 termis
3 chainfists
2 heavy flamers
1 storm bolter
Sarge With Thunder hammer and storm Bolter.

Deathwing squad
4 termis
4 chainfists
2 heavy flamers
2 storm bolters
Sarge with T-hammer and Storm Bolter

Deathwing squad
4 termis
4 chainfists
2 heavy flamers
2 storm bolters
Sarge with T-hammer and Storm Bolter

Total 1000 Pnts exactly.
Model count: 15 models

What do you think, I know, i could spend things on stuff other than chainfists, and i should probably use assault cannons instead of heavy flamers, but i like heavy flamers, and they are fluffy. Same with thunder hammers.

Can you even have a Salamander wing? I thought that that was only for Death Wings. You will be in a TON of trouble if you play a slugga heavy ork army. 4+ save for 15 models equals a very short game.

Oh, I thought that that was Obvious that i was going to use the deathwing army list, but have them be salamanders in fluff. I apoligize. I realize that some things will make a mess of me, but that doesn't really matter to me. Against any horde, i'd be screwed, but i face mostly chaos, and Dark Angels, and Daemonhunters. Luckily, it's tzeench, not khorne. Korne would cut me up really bad, just like orks.

of course the Sword of Secrets counts towards the weapon total- it's a weapon, and you need a hand to hold it.

you really don't need the storm shield anyway.

Sounds cool. I always kind of liked the fluff for the Samamanders.

Yeah, like the others have said the SoS counts as a weapon, so drop the Storm Shield. I would not bother with the Bionics either, unless you are just looking to spend your last few points.

Most people are all about the Asscannon, but for a Salamander force I really like the idea of the Heavy Flamer. You will need to get in closer to be effective, though, so be sure you are not playing on an empty board. Terrain is your friend! Other than that, I might cut down on the Chainfists. I think one per squad is probably enough, unless you figure on facing an IG Armoured Company! I think I might also move the TH/SS over to the thrid Termi. The Sgt with his Powersword is the only one in the unit who gets to strike in initiative order in close combat. I hate to give that up, even for something as fluffy as hammers in a Sallie list.

It would be nice if you could field your squads in units of six (which I think is probably the optimum number for "tactical" terminators) but if you are only fielding 1000 points, its hard to do.

How could you switch the T-hammer to another termi, as now we use the Codex: SM terminator and Assault terminator listings. No more mix-and match... :'(

But if there is a way, that would be awesome.

Another idea is to get rid of the hammers, and just have Power weapons that look like hammers, and using those points, Grab myself a Cheapie Multi-melta Dreadnought. I'm not entirely opposed to this idea, as it would give me some much needed armour.

The Termi Sgt could always have a Thunder Hammer and power sword- doable with the plastics (RH TH, LH PS). Plus, he gets an extra attack for having two ccws that way.

HQ cost: 350
