I wouldn't use them as a command squad, but I would use the option of sticking one guy in a tactical squad if the squad was mounted/ likely to see combat.

then you can get a powerfist and a power weapon in the same squad.

I dont like the honor guard for points cost reason (command squad wise)

For what they cost honour guard are awesome. They're getting 5 point power weapons, and you get an extra two characters in the squad.

The big (and REALLY DUMB) problem with honour guard is that they carry bolters and not bolt pistols...

It just doesn't make any sense...

I know they are cheaper, but a command squad of 5 is expensive. 245 for the 5 of them. The Bolter thing is obviusly a problem. I rather get my self a 5 man Assault Terminator squad for 200 points that can out do this squad.

They aren't bad, but there are better options available. As a command squad, they are better than most other command squads. But overall I never liked command squads.

buying them individually and adding them to squads works out pretty reasonable points-wise.

The points problem only refers to Command Squads. Buying them indivually is a great choice. I was saying have fun buying a VetSgt with Powerfist AND Honor Guard member.

But you have to be the boys in blue to use them. And I'm not, so I can't even use them. But I've considered them if I were to be ultramarines.

well, you'd probably buy an honour guard guy instead of a heavy weapon trooper, so I think they'd be worth it.

Didn't think of that. Good idea- it would be worth it in an assaulty squad.

yup- vet sgt with bp &pf, HG, special weapon, rhino or drop pod- roll up, deploy, shoot up the enemy, get assaulted, have a power weapon to drop a few of them an initiative, and a powerfist to drop some more at the end/ in case there are any tough ones.
