Default 1500pts Mech Marine list - RFC

Hi all,

On a whim, and in a treadhead sort of mood, I cobbled together this list for vet's night tomorrow...I will, in all likelihood, take it tomorrow regardless of what's said here, but I thought I'd get some ideas on potential problems or useful combo moves.

Captain - Terminator Armour, Storm Bolter, Power Weapon...105

Termie Command Squad x 5 - 2 Assualt Cannons...240

Dreadnought - Heavy Flamer, Drop Pod...145

Tactical Marines x 6 - Missile Launcher, Plasma Gun, Razorback w/EA and Smoke...188

Tactical Marines x 6 - Missile Launcher, Plasma Gun, Razorback w/EA and Smoke...188

Assualt Squad x 8 - 2 Plasma Pistols, Vet Sgt w/ Powerfist and Teleport Homer...265

Predator Annihilator - Heavy Bolters, EA and Smoke...138

Predator Destructor - Heavy Bolters, EA and Smoke...118

Vindicator - PotMS...155

Total 1497 (more or less)

It breaks the first rule of Building A Decent List, inasmuch as it has two nearly-minimised Troops. Definitely not going to score much on army comp.

The (very) broad operational concept involves sending off the Vindicator and Assualt squad up on flank, to hook up with DS'ing termies and dread, while the Predators and infantry provide fire support. M'eh. Might work

should be cool, and it's themed

I'd say go for flamers on assault squads though, they can do lots of damage. people underestimate them against marines.

Interesting list but I would suggest not using razorbacks and instead making use of rhinos. Your army is very short on troops a problem for marines at the best of times. Razorbacks have better guns yes but not better armor and not that great transport wise with the adition of more points. Its not a safe platform for weapons to relly on with more than one. Bulk up the core of your army with some larger tac squads mounted in rhinos. The rest looks good.

Thanks for the replies so far :)

Took it our for a test drive tonight, and I don't think I could have picked a worse setup if I'd tried. Fighting Necrons, on a 4' by 4' terrain-light board. I was absolutely bricking it when my opponent rolled first turn.

But it didn't work out that badly. His army was mostly Warriors and Destroyers, so I was able to keep the worst of the guass fire off by working at long range. The assault team was the gamewinner. The power of an assault squad, Vindicator and Dreadnought working in close support shouldn't be underestimated. He conceded at the end of turn 5, about 2 models (I think) short of phase-out.

All in all, not a bad start :)

mech against Necrons... could have been painful, so congrats on the win

but yeah, assault squads rock. anything that can finish a turn outside the opponent's charge range (ie more than 12" away), but charge that squad on your next turn even if that squad doesn't move towards you is awesome.
basically, anything with 18" combined move and assault.
