seems like a good solid base to build up into a bigger army.
I'd suggest dropping the frag grenades, as I don't see those squads charging.
Give the sgt a bolter unless you've already made the models.
I'd leave the dread with a storm bolter, but that's just my preference.

Instead of a normal drednought, take a venerable. The 1 good reason why you should have a venerable is that you can reroll your roll to go first.
Thats why I use mine for the most part.

The new Codex allows you to upgrade your dreadnought to Venerable.

The list looks pretty solid. As mentioned before, unless you plan on assaulting your units, give your Sgts a bolter. If you do plan on assaulting, take out the heavy bolter. Its a waste of points if all you do is move and assault. Your missile launcher should be fine on its own for taking down transports and dreadnoughts, because that is all that you will see in a 500pt game. So orient one swaud for assault with a flamer and plasma combo, and your on your way to a pretty decent list!

Since you already have the dread and chappy, I would definately gear one of the tac squads for close combat. You don't want you chappy getting picked off because he is the only one moving forward.

Well I can't see that force winning many battles but as said before a good place to start. when you get your dread don't gule the arms on then you can just slot on the different arms when needed & don't bother with the heavy flamer you'll get to use it once or twice in any battle while the storm bolter will give you some extra fire power thourgh out most of the game. with the tactical squads just stick with bolters buy your self another squad of marines bulk up on man power & then chose what weapons you want. get your self a captain ld 9 - 10 all round is not to be sniffed at.

thats all my help & most of that is what I've learnt from others on Tauonline.

well spotted.

but you fail to notice that, as I said, only Space Wolf Venerable Dreads allow you to re-roll for first turn. Codex Vens don't have that ability.

I would reccomend that you don't take heavy weapons and assault weapons in the same squad, only choose one of the two. Assault weapons are, obviously, for shooting and then assaulting. Heavy Weapons are the exact opposite, they're for shooting and sitting there.

Also I would reccomend a storm bolter rather than a heavy flamer on the dreadnought. Flamers simply aren't worth it, they're not as good as they may first seem.

Anyways for the squads, if you want to assault, I reccomend having 10 man squads with a sergeant that has a Power Fist and a bolt pistol, as well as Rhino. Of course that's for higher point levels. For shooting squads, have maybe 5 bolter marines, and the 1 heavy weapon. The point for the marines is to guard the heavy weapon. You aren't going to be going anywhere, since you can't move and shoot a heavy weapon, so you won't need too many marines. They're just to protect the weapon in the event that they get shot at or charged.
