I'd go for choices 2 or 4, but with Litening Claws fer the Master, Bolt Pistol instead of the Storm Bolter on the Vet Sarge (stands to reason___he's your powerfisting source an' an additonal At goes a long way, especially at Str8). Also, Command squads no longer have Techmarine specialists___they've got their own entry as an Elite IC now, while being replaced by a Company Champion in the Com squad.

are you using the 3rd Ed marine codex?

marine leaders aren't called Commanders and Force Commanders anymore, and techmarines don't go in Command Squads anymore...

That I am, whizz.

I wouldn't like to take the lightning claw, because according to fluff, only Termies or Vets have 'em.

The techmarine is an independant character when not with Servitors, so he is attached to the squad.

The Company Champ model reminded me WAY to much of an Emperor's Champ, so thats what I used him for.

Thanks, and a better list with points will come!

if you're using the 3rd ed codex, then the techmarine isn't an independent character at all...
but why aren't you using the 4th ed codex?

Well, I had pretty much abandoned my SM army in the 3rd-4th switch, but then I painted 'em all up, and they are now a legal army. The only problem is, I never got a chance to buy the SM Codex. I will probably have BT within January, though.

I am trying to switch to 4th ED from 3rd using what I have heard over the forums. Right now, I am concentrating on the Command Squad.

Thanks, all, I am almost done with the list with points.

If the Techmarines are only attached to the squads, then you have to add another marine. Command squads must be at least 5 men strong not inluding the IC. Also, why not give your Master an Iron Halo instead of artificer armor, an invunerable save is far more useful. Thirty points is also way too much to pay for a weapon w/ twelve inch range that could wound your own charcrter. And the purity seals arn't needed, your entire army will have ld 10 w/ a master, and theirspace marines, so you don't have to be especially worried about breaking and retreating off of the table. Besides, only one model needs purity seals for the entire squad to get the benifit.

Purity seals are for fluff, and BT gets 'em for free on characters, so... why not?

No, Command squads need 4 bodyguards and one charatcer. And then there is COmpany Champ, but he is, in my army, just the Emps Champ, so...

Thanks for the comments, if I could find my camera, I could post pics.

No, according to the 4th ed. space marine codex, command squads consist of a sergeant and 4-9 space marines.

if you're going to get the new BT codex soon, why not wait until you've got the valid rules for a command squad before you make one?
