Default Command Squad Help

Can some 1 plz help me? The black templare command squad has a banner standard carries right. Then you give him terminator honours now he can get stuff from armory. Then if i wish to updgrade his Fighting Company Banner to a Sacred Standard what does it do. It says i get +1 to combat resolution score of any asualt that teaks place within x Number of Inches. So what does adding +1 do for you exactly.

Also Can a command squad be taken withought taking /having it be taken with a leader. The book says may be taken with leader but i cant find anything about it having to be taken. Some people sayed i had to take a Chaplen so that i could take the command squad but some sayed i did not. I mean the Blacktemplar are a new chapter and rules change like Crusaders as transports.

It's in the book, Wind.* When you deal with combat resolution, you total up the number of casualties on each side.* The standard just adds one extra kill to your total.

No.* This is dealt with in the first line of the Command Squad's description.* Command squads may be taken for all of the Black Templar HQ choices aside from the Emperor's Champion, but they may not be taken without an HQ Character to lead them.

Yes but it says may. I dotn see anything that cleary outlines that you cant take them without having a chaplin/leader of somekind.

hmm... You seem to have stumbled onto an odd wording in the Space Marine Codex (and subsequently the Templar Codex). I wouldn't push the issue to far with your opponents. Command squads have always been escort units in the past. I don't see why this would change without more mention being made of it.

Ya but each chapter is differnt black templare are just mostlikly special. I mean in the starter box you get a command squad and 15 marines and a rhino. Now why would they give you command squad if you could not use them without a leader. Im running a 400 point squad and 520 points with a commander in it. 5 guys with chain sword pistol comb 2 guys with mulit meltas the rest are sarge champing and apothicary each with a power fist thats master crafted. The Commander allso has a power fist with master crafting on them. So basically 11 hits with power fist and 4 misses are reroled then on charge i get 15 hits ;D Bascally its a little over kill. You then stick them all in a Land rader drive them up and charge and then hope form one guy to another.

Don't push the idea, it's a long way from right.

Command Squads are known in every other army as a Retinue. You must take a Character to have one, and the Character must be legally allowed to lead them. No exceptions.

The wording you mentioned is identical between the 4th Edition Space Marine Codex and the Black Templar Codex.

Cripes, Wind! Use spell-check! That was liking trying to read soup!

Hmmm....Wind is just the sort of person described in my recent posts in the "most hated enemy" thread over in the tau forum...nothing personal, of course.

Sorry i was trying to make a quick post before going to bead it was pritty late and i was in a rush. But does the rules state that you have to have a command / leader to lead them.

Im not trying to cheat. I move 6" Shoot 12" im not a noob or semi noob i know how to play the game pritty well. I just started play space marines and have a question about the command squad. Some people agreed with me and others did not. I mean the rules change.

The rules do change, but not without notice like that. You are hinging your entire argument on the fact that the description says "may", but doesn't say "may not" for a rather strange eventuality. There are no HQ choices in the entire game consisting of a unit of regular infantry with no characters. It defies the point entirely. You are taking "rules-lawyering" a lot further than most opponents are willing to accept.
