Default Black Temp...how are they?

How's the new codex? Since I haven't read it yet, I feel left out in all these post! But seriously, hows the codex guys?

Not the letdown I was expecting... heaven forbid, GW brought out a balanced sub-Codex!

The army is not a 2D "CHARGE!!!!" list like the old one. You can (as I have shown in my new list) make a "shooty" Templar force. They are Marines as they should be; all zeal and honour.

As I stated, they made a balanced army; the "Fall Forwards" rule has been tweaked (and they pay for it now... though not much admittedly), the Emperor's Champion has fallen into line, Fearless in assault isn't so beardy now there's a downside (thanks to 4th Edition rules... one good thing about them!), and you pay for your Vow now.

Definately worth getting. The fluff isn't really anything new for people like me, but if you're not well versed in Imperial History, it should be worth a read.

Cool. Might have to pick it up.

Are the "Create you own crudading chapter" rules in it? Or did they not make it?

And an actually balanced codex from 4th edition space marines I thought that was impossible

I do have to admit, I like the codex. I am a Wolf and Tau player as you can see. I have been buying a codex here and there looking for a new army and I think I have found it. I am going to have to sell my DH stuff because the vows and army set up really has a unique feel to it.

There does not seem to be too much information on BT on this Tau board but I will post whatever help I can to those new out there. I will be rereading this codex and will start testing out some stuff soon.

Wargamer: I was let down on the Nphts not being able to take bolters. I will have to look closely at your list, I do like a shooty army but I did not expect a shooty BT army.

No. There are no Traits in this Codex; if it was good enough for Dorn and the Legions, it's good enough for the Crusaders!

It makes a nice change. Admittedly, there will always be much of the Codex that encourages assault, but now it is the favoured way, not the only way. I personally like my "Shooty" Templar list.

I was kind of disapointed about the lack of traits with the Black templars, but i think the reason for that is this: THEY ARE THE BLACK TEMPLARS. If you want to make your own Chapter use the Space Marine book. Anyways, the Templars are a pretty good army. I mean, come on, they have THE HOLY HAND GRENADES OF ANTIOCH. How could they not be awesome?

The Neos could have bolters, that alone would make them way awesome.

YOU'VE NEVER HEARD OF THE HOLY HAND GRENADE OF ANTIOCH! Holy crap man! There's an entire thread devoted to it ON THIS VERY WEBSITE! And if that doesn't help, try watching Monty Python & The Search for the Holy Grail. You know what? Watch it anyway.

Oh, and Wolf-Tau? That would be awesome. I think they could in the old version.
