Default Dreadnaught variants

Curious what what you guys find as the best all arround dreadnaught variant.

Mine personally is the ML autoC. Nice range good vs troops light vehicles and even heavy vehicles when need be.
And has the ability to tie up units in combat.

Anyways i'm curious what you guys personally feel which dred serves you best.
Melee dreds ac dreds.

I personally hate the Lascannon/ML combo as it makes the Dread not nearly as fearsome in combat, and the AC/DCCW pattern doesn't have as much range as I like... the AC/ML is something I've never experimented with, I might give it a spin... I like the Drop Pod/Melta/DCCW with Flamer for up-close action, the Lascannon/DCCW for anchoring flanks (kinda senseless in an infiltrator army, though).

I'm going to have to read the codex again because I thought the autocannon wasn'tan option you could put on a dreadnaught anymore. I thought for the one arm you now either had assault cannon, twin linked lascannons or a multimelta. It's early for me right now, I'll check later.

AutoC/Ml have good tankhunting ability as well as the ability to take down infantry Ml shot 1-4 hits autocannon = 2 shots Very decent for hunting down light to medium infantry.

Light med vehicles hurt very badly from this aswell as ac +ml means death. Nice Rof

Heavy vehicles are more of a problem but you still have the apility to glance av14 so you never up the creak without a paddle.

I favour short ranged fire-power dreads as I'm a Salamander player.

So:

AC, CC Weapon & Heavy Flamer

or

Multi-Melta, CC Weapon & Heavy Flamer.

I usually make my Multi Dread into a Venerable Dread so It can take the Tank Hunter skill.

Close ranged weapons are best on a Dread with a CC Weapon as you will be wanting to get close to the enemy anyway to engage them in combat so the extra range of weapons like the Lascannon aren't needed.

I do quite like the Mortis Pattern Dread with Twin Autocannons though, but thats mainly because I like Autoccannons. It is best used against Tau where it can deal with both their infantry and massed skimmers.

plasma cannon/DCCW space puppies, becayse he draws so much fire it's crazy... and when you have 20+ Blood claws without rhinos it's a good thing...

Yes, my PC/DCCW dreadnaught with tank hunter is insanely scary to the enemy...I dunno if it's the lack of "gets hot" or what...but he's always target number one and he always survives the game (terrain and rerolled damage tables help a lot!)

But, my nominee is venerable lascannon mortis dreadnaught with tank hunter:

two twinlinked lascannons with +1 on penetration rolls.

ability to reroll damage tables.

nuff said!

Assault Cannon & ccw + heavy flamer on a venerable with furious charge in a drop pod
this dread combo has decimated scores of my troopers and HQ squads over many games
it is target number one as soon as it hits the table
other variants don't pose as much of a threat in my experience
