Default MACRAGGE IS SCREWED

i realised when looking at page 91 in the 40k book, that macragge is going to be completly swarmed. The size of that force is insane if u think about it

Well, the title to your thread certainly represents flame-baiting, but I think you're a bit misguided, is all. I'm not particularly fond of any chapter except the Sons of the Lion, but give the devil his due, the space smurfs did a number on the bugs once, they'll do just fine on Macragge.

Let's see...

BEHEMOTH: The only hive fleet to ever reach Ultramar. Slaughtered to a Tyranid.

KRAKEN: Spread out, and almost dead. No threat to Ultramar.

LEVIATHAN: Wrong side of the galaxy. No threat to Ultramar.

I have no clue where you get this "Marines = dead!" mentality.

Plus the Ultras get a bonus against the little buggers, so I'ts not unreasonable to think that Macragge is not screwed.

Ummm not really as they have already beaten that fleet off. That purple you see is where beheamoth hit. The current fleet is coming from the galactic south.

No splinter fleets won't do squat.

Well the Genestealers are lethal in close combat, So there ot much use are they until there in close combat, But the Termagants are a different story...Although Ultramarines also have there share of Close Combat and Ranged like the Bolters and the missle Launcher which are good. The Flamer would take out a few too I would think.

Lieutenant varras
to hit - 4+
to wound a genestealer - 4+
to wound a Termagant - 3+
to wound a spore mine - 4+
weapon range - 12"

Thats pretty much the same as the rest apart for the to hit part which is 3+ on the rest fo the ultramarines.

Termagant is to hit - 4+
wound lt.Varras - 3+
to wound a space marine - 4+
weapon range - 12"
only gets 1 close combat attack

Genestealer gets to close combat attacks.
But then theres Brother SGT. Octovian and he gets 2 attacks at close combat and the Bolters get 24" shot if they don't move.
So with the Bolters and the Missle launcher Shooting for a bit further away flamer and Sgt. Octavian Will take out a few termagants while the Bolters keep the Genestealers at bay, So I think the Ultra Marines wil be fine! ;D

Robby, what in petes sake are you talking about?

No matter how ill concieved this topic is it is about the fluff of Tyranid Hive fleets destroying Ultramar not the battle for macragge box set.

My thoughts exactly -
a) This is a discussion of fluff, not game mechanics.
b) Robby, never, ever, ever attempt to use 40k statlines to represent fluffbased battle - the fact that as many have supported a fluffy Marine would have a "solid six" statline is all I'll bother to say...
