Default Thousand Sons Pre-heresy

I'm going to make a Thousand Sons pre-heresy army using the normal space marine army list. They were a secret company of the chapter that, since they were a chapter that heavily researched sorcery, were employed by a top-secret radical movement of the inquisition that pre-dated even the radicals we now know today. After a string of succesful missions, they discovered that a warp rift had formed during the dark age of Technology, and it contained a whole star system still ruled by the run-away technology of that tumultus period. Basically, the place's time was out of whack, moving much more slowly than normal. Before even the first whispers of heresy entered the chapter, this company entered the rift and fought a war with the machines with the intent of liberating the humans remaining on the world and of learning what they could from the old tech. After a long and protracted war with the machines, they reemerged into the present day 40k world, with no knowledge of the Horus heresy or of their chapter's fall from grace. Now, having discovered this, they are on a desperate pentinent crusade to prove their loyalty.

Its going to be a fluffy army, with a librarian leader, and an apothecary, or "embalmer" (to mummify the dead)in each squad. I'll have a dreadnoght that has an egyptian mummy sarcophagas instead of the normal one, and generally have the army be heavily themed torwards the fluff and ancient Egypt in general by my choice of units and conversions.

Is this a good idea, or is it absolutely awful? Please let me know.

Sounds very cool to me, the conversions might be a bit rough but if you think you can handle them I say go for it. Very unique force to have to set up opposite of thats for sure.

He could just say they were attached to ensure the company's loyalty.

Inquisitors existed just not by that name basically old champlains.

Army sounds fun i've build one like it using chaos rules.

Old tech for me was obliterators and the defiler.

chaiplans and inquisitors are different. The Inquisitors had yet to be formed. They are formed after the heresy.

You could say the emperor or their primarch formed them for specific tasks which seperated them from their legion and its turn to chaos.
