Default Scout army

I personally think scouts look cooler than marines (the backpack is the main reason) any way to the point. With the release of the new plastic scout kit I was wondering how could you represent a scout army I know scout troops and bikers the only thing I could think of was vetrens for elitte.

What can I use to represent this?

Veterans with Infiltrate would fit the roll of Scouts pretty well, and skimping on heavy, unmaneuverable armour (tanks, that is) for Devestators could help the image... consider using the SBDBS trait to let you infiltrate all your infantry, it's fitting for the scout flavour.

No they can't.

This army might not stand up in tournament,s but great fluff wise!

Perhaps only veterans are in power armor? Fluff wise, a Scout Company has no Terminator armor, or Dreads. It's usually just a bunch of scouts that is led by some Veterans (some in power armor), Chaplain, and Commander.

You could do a command squad with infiltrate, maybe a vet squad too.. and there is someway to get infiltrating devestators is there not? Then lots of normal scouts and a squad or two of scout bikes.

I woudent include any tanks.. it doesent fit in.

But you could include terminators with deepstrike.. fluff wise the scouts infiltrate far behind enemy lines and then call in support. Maybe use dreadnoughts in droppods?

Oh.. and paint youre marines in camoflage.. Maybe even make some of that stuff snipers of today use.. and make them dirty representing that they have been crawling in the mud for a month to get there. Camoflage suits could be mad of bandages maybe?

Possibly build the entire army for combat so that they all have bolt pistol and close combat weapon? I've done this, not with scouts, with basic marines and it works quite well, see my thread for more info.

No tanks or Dreads or Termies.

One, a Scout isn't made into a dreadnought.

Two, a Scout Company oftne works by itself behind enemy lines and don't have access to Terminator armor, as 1)Too not stealthy, and 2)they don't have the privilige to wear it and 3)They don't even have suits of Terminator Armor in scout companies. They are resevred for the battle companies seeing regular battle. Most are in the 1st company.

To follow fluff and have good tactics, get as many scouts as possibly. Devote 3 Scout squads to CC and infiltrate them to assualt. The other 3 give a Missile Launcher and infiltrate and give fire support. You might want to have a Devastator squad; there are a few marines w/ power armor in the scout company. Use chapter traits and allow them to take infiltrate. and equip w/ missle launchers and that should take care of vehicles.

Overall, though, you'll find that this list may be underpowered, as vehicles will give it a hard time, and you'll lack equipment to take on heavy infantry. Like other marines.

If you wanted to have some sort of fire
support for the army you could even think of taking maybe one or two landspeeders (not typhoons or tornados) to represent the limited amount of heavy equipment they have to use ... this could be a very interesting army if it was made with some sort of fluff behind it as well.

And as for modelling the landspeeders you could thin the armour out with a crafting knife and also to replace the actual drivers and so forth with scouts (would requie some conversion but would look good)

I think it would look quite cool to take some of the snipers, HBs, and missle launcher models and throw together a Devi squad. In the codex, it allows HBs, MLs, or autocannons. Conversions, anyone? It should be easy with plastic
