Personally I like my Whirlwind. I feel it has some decent firepower at a relatively low cost.

Vindicator seems to be the vehicle of choice by marine players around me.

At least two of them (one is an obvious target and WILL die before you want it to. Two makes your opponent concentrate on it as well, thus sparing the rest of your army (like scoring units).

rhinos, are very, very important. this is due to their utterly cheep price. as a tau player, i can vouch just how much a cheep transport is important. the imortant thing is to remember what it is thats in it. it has two firing points, this allows you to fire two of you dev. squads ranged wepons, or something similar with the tact. squad. as you approch the enemies lines you let all hell brake loose from your heavy/special weapon

no what you want guys is a land raider of some kind, 14 armour all round and some decent weapons as well but expensive, but like everything it has to fit with what you are going to use it for.

so what are you going to use it for? with this help then we can help you more.

I personally would go with a predator as my first purchase. remove the turret and you have a rhino. Similarly if you are going to get a dedicated trasport, buy razorbacks. They only cost a little extra money, but you have the option of a razorback or a rhino. It is my opinion that a land raider is nice, but not necessary. But it really depends on your army build. I have heard a lot about vindicators, but I haven't used one before. I wasn't impressed with my whirlwind.
