Default 2000 point Pre Heresy Imperial Fists "Shield Wall Formation"

Sigh. So I've made another list again. I hadn't planned on making a full blown IF list but things happened.

Ok so a little while back I tried making an Imperial Fists Kill Team. Its just 200 points & thanks to Chapter Master Seth, Marked of Kane & DarKHaZZ13 I was able to come up with the following:

Tactical Squad (10 Marines)
Meltagun
Missile Launcher
200

Simple and yet very characteristic of the Imperial Fists. Then I was pointed towards the BOLS 30k Heresy Playaid. The Pre-heresy Imperial Fist Shield Wall Formation caught my attention. While I wasn't able to replicate it exactly but in 2k I was damn close & at 2.5k I could replicate it entirely with a pair of Marine filled Rhino escorts. Here's my list. The thing that won me over was I have every single model I need already so its just a matter of painting and/or converting some models. Here's the 2k list:

HQ 1:
Captain Abner Morrell(Pedro Kantor)
175

Included primarily because he's got the Stubborn chapter rule that Imperial fists have. His conversion will be decidedly NOT preheresy. Heck the inspiration isn't even 40k related. I thought of dropping the 1st tac squad's weapons to include Lysander instead, seeing as that the Shield Wall's commander is supposed to be in TDA but opted to keep it instead & field Pedro. Plus when I plan to disembark both Terminator Squads he'll give them both 5 additional power fist attacks. ;D

Elite: 930
Elite 1:
Assault Terminators
TH/SS
200
Land Raider
250

My go to unit for the most part. Kills tanks, hordes, monsterous creatures, zombies, and overweight Marines.

Elite 2:
Terminators
Cyclone Missile Launcher
230
Land Raider
250

Went with a CML as assault cannons weren't common during the Horus Heresy.

Troop: 405
Troop 1:
Tactical Squad (10 Marines)
Power Weapon
Flamer
Missile Launcher
Rhino
220

Troop 2:
Tactical Squad (10 Marines)
Power Weapon
Flamer
Missile Launcher
185

In Objective based games I have 3 units that can sit on objectives (2 missile launcher games & a sarge squad in a Raider with the Rhino transporting the 4th combat squad to contest/secure further objectives. I switched from melta to flamer cause I think I'm covered on AT & hordes are what worry me. That & fast armies but that's totally different.

Heavy Support: 490
Heavy Support 1:
Vindicator
Dozer Blade
120

Heavy Support 2:
Vindicator
Dozer Blade
120

Dozer blade is there so that when I eventually lose that cannon & I can inflict RAMMING SPEED with little difficulty.

Heavy Support 3:
Land Raider
250

Transports 2nd tac squad. Raiders are mainly AT & anti-MC but in a pinch the heavy bolter can cause some wounds.

2000 points

Honestly for the life of me I can't shake the feeling of this being rather fragile. Fast armies worry me a bit though I have a fair amount of ranged AT. Hordes are what really worry me as its just the heavy bolters on the Raiders that do any mass dakka & that's not much though the Vindi's should help. Orks & nids are my concern but nids in general cause I haven't faced them yet. Well I think I'll play test it Sat.

You could replace a Godhammer with a Redeemer & free up some points. The assault cannon will do wonders for hordes or armor and its FAST provided you don't toss on a multimelta. Then you deploy the assault Terminators, which I assume are Hamminators, into what ever you're worried about while more cannon fire and flames mess with the enemy.

Alternatively you can deep strike the Hamminators close to the enemy and run so that you're that much closer to the enemy and so that blast weapons can't get all of them. The sudden apearance of the squad close by wil divert a fair amount of fire. The Land raider of course will move on the board, belching the wrath of the Emperor.

Redeemers weren't around pre-Heresy, and I think he's going for fluff.

Twin-lascannon predators, Crusaders, Redeemers, Razorbacks, LS-Storms(not sure) most (if not all) Forge World vehicles.

The irony of that statement is Forge World produces Heresy era Dreadnoughts and Landraiders, not to mention Mark IV armor.

Hmm, I never thought about DS'ing the "Hamminators." (I swear now I'm going to have a very over the top Arnold's voice in my head when I use those things). The running part does sound really good for messing with blast weapons though it'll be at the mercy of the dice.
