1k Ultramarines for tourney

Default 1k Ultramarines for tourney

Hey so I've got a tournament that a friend of mine talked me into. This will be my first tourney as I'm not too keen on playing the power gamer hun'dan in my area but since it's another area & a request from a friend I'll give it a go. This list is based on my very fluffy & rather successful Ultramarines list (2 losses so far & more victories than losses & ties) but I haven't had much experience at the 1k level as the normal point level is 1500 at my regular store. Add that to the fact its a tourney, I'm a little nervous.

I've got 2 lists here & the main difference between the 2 is more bodies in the RAS & a lascannon in a tac squad vs 2 MM Attack Bikes & a 2nd plasma cannon. If anyone can help me decide which one to use I'd really appreciate it.

Im leaning towards the second one myself, I think the bikes will do better hunting tanks, because any fast tanks will evade your Assault Squad pretty easily, or at least make them hit on 6's with a melta-bomb. Maybe drop one of the power fist for another HB in the Dev squad. Another possibility is instead of buying the HB, upgrade a Plasma Cannon to a lascannon, and the flamer to a plasma gun and then give that squad the tankhunter's skill with Sicarius. Now you have a S10 lascannon and a S8 plasma gun against tanks. Just an idea though.

Hmm, intriguing. I didn't even consider adding a plasma gun for a Tank Hunters squad. I might downgrade to a power weapon. Well Bikes it is.

That sounds like a good comprimise. The only reason i say Plasma Gun is becasue the range difference is not as great between that and a lascannon, instead of a melta-gun: lascannon. And if they get too close you can fire twice ;D.
