10 Assault Marines - no Jump Packs, Power Fist, Rhino - 230

10 Death Company - Rhino - 250

Death Company Dreadnought - Magna-grapple, Drop Pod 175

Yeah, I know I have lots of points to spend. I'm still wondering what to do with it. I KNOW I want some weapons on the Death Company, but I'm unsure whether I want to roll with Fists or just go anti-infantry Power Weapons and Lightning Claws. I'm thinking a little of both, with Claws and Fists, so I can also challenge MCs and other high-toughness troops. Seth will join that unit.

Even after those upgrades I'll still have ~250 points to spend. What to do with it? The trouble is, if I add something like a Baal Predator, clocking in at 145 points with Assault Cannon/Heavy Bolters, I'll only have 100 points - not enough for any other units, just for upgrades, and I'm not into excessively upgrading my units. Even the expensive cost of a BA Rhino is pushing it for me.

I'm thinking an entire new unit would be the best course of action. I'm seriously considering a large unit of Vanguard, even 10-man, with some similar weapon loadouts to the Death Company, and use the Descent of Angels for insanely accurate Heroic Interventions.

Thoughts? Critiques?

I'm not to good with Flesh Tearers fluff, but I do remember they were low on vehicles; else I would have recommended you to take some Land Speeders just to escort the Rhinos as they rushed towards the enemy, or even some bikes.


Personally bikes are the best choice IMO as you don't have many guys to shoot back at the enemy when they are trying to demolish your transports, even with smoke up you are bound to lose 1 to either can't move, immobilized or destroyed.

For 295 points you can have a tooled out bike squad;

8 bikers + attack bike
Flamersx2, Heavy Bolter, Powerfist, Melta bombs

Split it into:
Sarge + 2 Flamers + 2 Normal bikes
Attack Bike + 3 Normal bikes

Nice anti-horde unit, still great for attacking not to meantion a threat to the opposing player maybe he'll stop trying to shoot your transports and try to hit the bikes who are 99% of the time going flat out(So cover ).


Personally I think bikes are the best to fill out the list and make them look cool as hell whilst doing it, think about it; 4 Rhinos being escorted by a bike squadren as they charge straight up the battle field to where the flesh is greatest, chainswords revving as the enemy is about to face untold slaughter.

If you don't go with bikes, probs the vets are the key as it still keeps in touch with the army's flavour which is kill and eat flesh you know the usual BA stuff.

Thanks for the responses, guys.

@#68, I already have that in mind. Lots of Fists to go around, for sure.

@BloodAngelsFever, your fluff is close. Flesh Tearers have a limited motor pool besides Rhinos, Razorbacks, and Whirlwinds, so transports aren't a problem. I just shouldn't be too heavy on the fancier tanks like Land Raiders and Baal Predators.

Bikes are an excellent suggestion. I'm not too big on basic bike squads, but your suggestion reminds me of the oft-overlooked Multi-Melta Attack Bikes, which I find to be a fantastic unit for the points. I also like the way you think - visuals are always important!

I'm still very undecided. You've only added one more unit to the running for what I may include. ;D

Some bikes are tempting, very tempting...

Sorry man but here are my two coppers worth.

I know a lot of people love the background of the armies they play and I'm the same way. And it means a great deal to some people but who cares. Leave Fluff to the rabbits. Go with the modeling aspect of the game! Or write some fluff that the save some Industrial world and they were rewarded with a large cache of tanks!

Now the modeling part of the game. The Baal Predators are an Awesome piece of kit, run two of them. If I could run these in my Space Wolves army I would run 2. Very Great Tank!

I have been looking into making a BA army and I am not too sure yet if I will but I wanted to paint my army either Angels Sanguine, Fleash Tears or even Lamenters colors. I may go with Flesh Tearers as the Shoulder Pad bits will be out soon. I do take some time to model my stuff with a few conversion here or there but if it's in the dex and I like it, I'm using it. You should too!

No need to apologize. I'm all for bending the fluff a bit - I'd just rather not run around with a trio of Land Raiders or anything.

However, a pair of Baal Predators would be all of my remaining points, leaving me no points for upgrades on my squads. If I go with but a single one I'll have points for a Libbie to buff my units, and 50 points for some special weapons throughout my squads. Hmm...

10 Vanguard is still extremely tempting, though. :P

Yeah, and after looking over the Baals new point costs, it actually seems like 2 regular predators in dakka setup will outperform them. They have 2 shots less, longer range, and cost about 30 points less, or more. So you could easily add in 2 of them and then have some points leftover for DC upgrades.

Of course you could swap the DCs rhino for a Crusader, having assault vehicle for them might be very nice.

So, I found out Vanguard don't have Descent of Angels. I am extremely disappointed. They can be struck from the running.

At this point I'm most seriously considering a Baal Predator and a single, basic Librarian, with Unleash Rage and Blood Boil or Blood Lance.

@ Seth Vanguard do have the decent of angels special rule because they can take jump packs. Any unit with a jump pack gets this rule. Check page 62 of the new Codex.

vanguard dont have decent of angels, its only for squads with jump packs to begin with. EG: assult squads and sang guard. squads with jump packs as up-grades dont have DOA. EG: Vanguard, tactical and DC.
