Default Wolfwing @ [1750]

Head Quarters [403 Points]

Long Tooth Ăikdlr Mighty Axe, Wetlips, Gutbuster [Count-As Logan Grimnar] (joins Pack Byrge) ľ 275 Points

Ăikdlr, meaning Eiderdrake in the language of the North, is a fearless warrior and a courageous leader. He augments his army by leading not with soft words but with action, swiping foes from their feet with his mighty axe, HjaningavÝg. Ăikdlr is equally as great at drinking mead and other brews as he is at fighting. He even has concocted his own alcoholic beverage, commonly known as Gutbuster; for only the hardiest of warriors drink this and keep their stomachs.

Rune Priest Harrßi Liege of the Elements, Lightweight (joins Pack Bjorn) ľ 128 Points
  • Terminator Armor
  • Storm Bolter
  • Living Lightning
  • Tempestĺs Wrath
  • Wolf Tail Talisman

Harrßi, meaning Savage in Council in the language of the North, is a fearful figure to behold. He smites his foes with wondrous arcs of lightning, commanding the power of Thor himself in battle. When infuriated, the snows themselves congregate themselves in a brutal representation of his wrath. Harrßi is, surprisingly, a poor drinker- little does he know that Ăikdlr and his men jokingly lace his drinks with Gutbuster!

Elites [105 Points]

Lone Wolf Blˇ°x Faux-Brother, Bane of the North, Islestalker ľ 105 Points
  • Terminator Armor
  • Chain Fist
  • Storm Shield
  • 2 Fenrisian Wolves

Most Honored Brother Oktell is one of the most tragic stories ever to grace the pages of a Saga. He and his brethren were returning, victorious, after a skirmish with the hated Eldar. Little did they know that the group they just vanquished was but a scouting group- one that reported their plight back to the main host like the cowards they are! Needless to say, the Farseer sent a group of Jetbikers to ambush Oktell and his squad. Swooping down from the snowy canyon walls, they made short work of the exposed, and slightly inebriated, Space Wolves. Oktell survived, not because he slew the Eldar, defending his fallen brothers, but because a servo in his Terminator Armor failed and he was knocked down, covered in the blood of one of his companions. Unable to move, he could only lie helpless as the Eldar slew the rest of his brothers. It is said the infuriated wails of Oktell were heard by a patrol of Wolf Scouts, who sent word to Ăikdlr, who sent a battle group, headed by himself, out to save Oktell. Once the Eldar were routed, Oktell was extracted from his failed Terminator Armor. He unfairly cursed his saviors, in particular Ăikdlr, for saving him; for he saw it as a stain of his honor for him to have survived in such a shameful way. From that point on, he carved the names of his fallen brothers into his hands and began going by the name of Blˇ°x, meaning Blood Axe in the language of the North. Accompanied only by two hulking wolves he gained during the Lone Hunt, he now stalks the halls, jeering at his fellows and excluding himself from Clan activities outside of the chaos of battle.

Troops [1000 Points]

Wolf Guard Pack Byrge Thicktongues, Ăikdlr's Finest (mounted in Land Raider Redeemer Gnřn) ľ 240 Points
  • Honored Brother Byrge is equipped with Terminator Armor, a Combi-Flamer, and a Frost Sword
  • Brother Ingulbj÷rn is equipped with Terminator Armor and two Wolf Claws
  • Brother Griotgard is equipped with Terminator Armor, a Combi-Melta and a Power Fist
  • Brother Styrlaug is equipped with Terminator Armor, a Combi-Flamer and a Power Fist
  • Brother Yngvild is equipped with Terminator Armor, a Combi-Plasma and a Power Fist

Pack Byrge is arguably the most battle hardened and tough to get into Pack in all of the North. They are all hulking brutes, scarred from hundreds of battles. They are the personal guards to Ăikdlr, each having saved the Long Tooth's life more then once. To say initiation into the ranks of Pack Byrge is strenuous would be like comparing a Carnodon to a household cat. First, the possible recruit has to have saved the life of the Long Tooth. Second, he must seek out and kill an Eiderdrake armed with only a carving knife, a wooden shield, and his wits. Lastly, but possibly the toughest, the recruit must drink an entire goblet of Gutbuster without getting knocked unconscious or "spilling his guts", as the ancient Northern saying goes.

Wolf Guard Pack Bj÷rn Pussies (by the men of Pack Byrge), Flamemaws ľ 220 Points
  • Honored Brother Bj÷rn is equipped with Terminator Armor and a Combi-Plasma
  • Brother Frothi is equipped with Terminator Armor and a Combi-Plasma
  • Brother Eyjolf is equipped with Terminator Armor and a Combi-Melta
  • Brother IogŠir is equipped with Terminator Armor and a Combi-Melta
  • Brother Agnar is equipped with Terminator Armor, a Combi-Plasma, and a Cyclone Missile Launcher

The Pack of Honored Brother Bj÷rn might be less recognizable then that of Byrge, but they are no less successful then their brothers. While Pack Bygre favors the carnage of close combat, the Brethren of Bj÷rn prefer to attack their enemies from afar, slaying them with hallow bolter and plasma, much to the humor of Pack Bygre. This humor extends to the numerous drinking contests put on by Long Tooth Ăikdlr. The Brothers of Bygre have said that the Bj÷rn method of killing enemies has translated to the drinking contests; that they have lost their edge due to their unmanly way of killing. This records stands undisputed. Never has Pack Bygre lost a drinking contest to Pack Bj÷rn.

Wolf Guard Pack BlŠik Newbies, Fresh Meat ľ 540 Points
  • Honored Brother BlŠik is equipped with Terminator Armor, a Combi-Plasma and a Frost Blade
  • Brother Gńrdar is equipped with Terminator Armor, a Combi-Plasma, and a Power Fist
  • Brother GŠirvi is equipped with Terminator Armor, a Combi-Plasma, and a Power Fist
  • Brother Mani is equipped with Terminator Armor, a Combi-Plasma, and a Power Fist
  • Brother Olaf is equipped with Terminator Armor, a Combi-Plasma, and a Power Fist
  • Brother ěvind is equipped with Terminator Armor, a Combi-Melta, and a Power Fist
  • Brother Skald is equipped with Terminator Armor, a Combi-Melta, and a Power Fist
  • Brother Swarta is equipped with Terminator Armor, a Combi-Melta, and a Power Fist
  • Brother Kadlin is equipped with Terminator Armor, a Combi-Melta, a Power Fist, and a Cyclone Missile Launcher
  • Brother VandrŠaskßld is equipped with Terminator Armor, a Combi-Melta, a Power Fist, and a Cyclone Missile Launcher

Pack BlŠik completes the trio of the Packs of the North. This is, by far, the largest of the three, and the least dedicated; Pack Bj÷rn operates almost exclusivly with ranged warfare while Pack Byrge devouts themselves to the carnal and brutal affairs associated with close combat. Pack BlŠik is much less specialized, operating under both the pretenses of a close combat Pack and a ranged Pack. It is in Pack BlŠik where the new recruits are place. Thus, they are less experienced in battle and have a lower tolerance during the numerous drinking contest put on by Ăikdlr, as reflected in their less then reputable record during such contests.

Heavy Support [240 Points]

Land Raider Redeemer Gnřn Burnspittle, Firewyrm ľ 240 Points

The Land Raider Gnřn, meaning Roar in the ancient language of the North, is the personal transport of Ăikdlr, bringing him and the bloodthirsty brothers of Pack Byrge into the waiting maw of the enemy. Needless to say, the warriors surge out of the Land Raider with abandon, tearing apart the enemy as they reel from the fury of the Flamestorm Cannons mounted on the starboard and port of the Land Raider. From time to time, in the most dire of circumstances, Ăikdlr will order the promethium wells filled with Gutbuster instead of the regular promethium. When this unstable concoction comes jetting out of the nozzles of the cannons, it surely does justice to the nickname "Firewyrm".

Wow, that is a very nicely put together list! Not only is the fluff fantastic, but I love your usage of "the language of the North." It really makes the list look real.

While I don't know much about Space Wolves and their powers, this list looks far more competative compared to your original Deathwing army. I think upgrading to the missile launchers as well as a landraider will be very effective. I can't wait to stare these mead drinking bad-boys down on the battle field .

Cheers!

PS- No jaws of the world wolf!?

Considering you're my main opponent and you didn't fail one leadership or psychic test during our last game and considering your army is completely composed of skimmers and jetbikes, Jaws of the World Wolf would have no effect, whatsoever, on your army. Tempest's Wraith, on the other hand... >

Plus, I can easily switch out powers if they seem to not be working.

Thanks for the comment. Hopefully with this list our games will be a little more competitive .

Hooray Embolden!!

You should send me a PM in regards to how Tempest's Wraith works... :P.

I'm very excited, hopefully we can do a battle report next game.

Cheers

Needless to say, the warriors surge out of the Land Raider with abandon, tearing apart the enemy as they reel from the fury of the constantly firing Lascannons mounted on the starboard and port of the Land Raider. Land Raider Ragnheiur Brightmaw, Stormson ľ 260 Points
      • Multi-Melta

Second commissioned of the three Land Raiders that make up the armored spearhead of the Wolfwing, Ragnheiur, meaning Bright Council in the language of the North, brings a bright death to his enemies indeed. Throttling down the battlefield at combat speed, firing its Lascannons and Multi-Meltas with abandon, Ragnheiur is synonymous with death for the enemies of the Imperium. A funny fact about Ragnheiur is that annually, on a Blue Moon, squad Bj÷rn sets up a playing table in her hull and gambles with Drakebones, all the while consuming copious amounts of mead.

Those who ride into battle in the bowels of ١rbrandr assert that this invulnerability is due mostly because the Land Raider has been sealed with the blessings of the Ancients of the North. Numerous Techmarines and servants of the Machine-God have inspected this machine and have found nothing aesthetically or mechanically different, so the claims of Pack BlŠik remain undisputed.

      • Twin-Linked Lascannon
      • Lascannon Sponson

Gumundr, meaning Lone Hunt in the language of the Northerners, is the lone Predator of the Wolfwing. Unlike many of other Predators in other Chapters, Gumundr is honored almost to the extent of venerability. The reasoning behind this is not exactly clear to the Techmarines and their masters on Mars, but it is hypothesized that entombed amongst the Las reserves and firing mechanisms, lies the tomb of Bi˘rnˇlfr, the first Long Tooth. As such, the vehicle is honored as if Bi˘rnˇlfr himself was at its helm.

Do you think Flamer and storm shields would help out?

It looks like you really put some thought and a lot of time into this list, thanks for a good read.

Being the shameless powergamer that I am, here is a new Tournament-oriented list. I will not be looking to make any friends with this list. I will not be playing friendly games with this (unless, of course, I feel like they deserve it :P).

Enjoy .

      • Brother Eyjolf is equipped with Terminator Armor, a Combi-Melta, and a Power Sword
      • Brother IogŠir is equipped with Terminator Armor, a Combi-Melta, and a Power Fist
      • Brother Agnar is equipped with Terminator Armor, a Combi-Flamer, and a Power Fist

Wolf Guard Pack BlŠik Newbies, Fresh Meat (mounted in Land Raider ١rbrandr) ľ 220 Points
      • Honored Brother BlŠik is equipped with Terminator Armor, a Combi-Melta, and a Power Sword
      • Brother Gńrdar is equipped with Terminator Armor, a Combi-Melta, and a Power Sword
      • Brother GŠirvi is equipped with Terminator Armor, a Combi-Melta, and a Power Fist
      • Brother Mani is equipped with Terminator Armor, a Combi-Flamer, and a Power Fist
      • Brother VandrŠaskßld is equipped with Terminator Armor, a Combi-Flamer, and a Power Fist

      Heavy Support [780 Points]

Land Raider Crusader Gnřn Burnspittle, Firewyrm ľ 260 Points
      • Multi-Melta

The Land Raider Gnřn, meaning Roar in the ancient language of the North, is the personal transport of Ăikdlr, bringing him and the bloodthirsty brothers of Pack Byrge into the waiting maw of the enemy. Needless to say, the warriors surge out of the Land Raider with abandon, tearing apart the enemy as they reel from the fury of the constantly firing Hurricane Bolter mounted on the starboard and port of the Land Raider. From time to time, in the most dire of circumstances, Ăikdlr will order the Hurricane Bolter clips infused with a special slushy of promethium and the infamous Gutbuster alcohol. When this compound strikes the hull of enemy takes, it burns through the armor, no matter how thick, surely doing justice to the nickname "Firewyrm".

Land Raider Crusader Ragnheiur Brightmaw, Stormson ľ 260 Points
      • Multi-Melta

Second commissioned of the three Land Raiders that make up the armored spearhead of the Wolfwing, Ragnheiur, meaning Bright Council in the language of the North, brings a bright death to his enemies indeed. Throttling down the battlefield at combat speed, firing its Hurricane Bolters and Multi-Meltas with abandon, Ragnheiur is synonymous with death for the enemies of the Imperium. A funny fact about Ragnheiur is that annually, on a Blue Moon, squad Bj÷rn sets up a playing table in her hull and gambles with Drakebones, all the while consuming copious amounts of mead.

Land Raider Crusader ١rbrandr Hardhammer, Anchor of the Ancients ľ 260 Points
      • Multi-Melta

Last, but most assuredly not least, of the trio of Land Raiders is ١rbrandr. Meaning Hard Hammer in the tongue of the Northerns, ١rbrandr is notoriously hard to kill, even by the standards of the venerated Land Raiders.

First off, I really really enjoy the effort you put into the fluff surrounding this army. Just the sheer writing makes it FEEL like a Space Wolves army without even seeing the models! A well-gifted writer, to be sure, sir.

At any rate, moving on to the backbone of the list, I'm concerned about suicide squads. While the death of one Land Raider won't hurt this army too much, downing two--or Emperor forbid, all three--would cripple this army. However, taking down three AV14 vehicles isn't impossible, but difficult in a short time span, especially if it's a DoW scenario.

At any rate, once the contents of the Land Raider Crusaders travels from point A (your deployment zone) to point B (your opponent's face) I'm concerned taht you might not have enough infantry models on the table to stick around for the entirety of a five- or six-turn game. Albeit, against armies such as Imperial Guard and Tau which might crumble against an assault like this, what exactly happens when you meet an enemy that's as good as (if not better then) you in melee?

I'm not that experienced with the Warhammer 40,000 game, so if you have more experience with this army and know how to make it work, by all means, win the honor of Russ through war and victory, but I'm concerned that (at this point-level) you don't have quite enough models to win consistantly.

If you have any better ideas of making a completely mechanized, completely Terminator armored list, please, enlighten me . The fact of the matter is that any Terminator army (i.e. Deathwing, Wolfwing, and to some degree, Daemonhunters) will be low on man power. Hopefully the tactics and fairly competitive list that I've built will be able to compensate for some of these short comings. Plus, the lack of man power is augmented by the Land Raider Crusaders, who can put out an obscene amount of shots.

Thanks for the input .
