Default The Iron Hell - 1,500pt Space Wolf [Supernovas] List.

Be warned, all of ye - what follows is a VERY Fluff-heavy list. A summary shall be presented at the end. :P

Overview - The Iron Hell:
The Iron Hell was an extended campaign upon the Ork held Fortress world of H'rax. It was one of the bloodiest and most terrible campaigns the Supernovas ever embarked upon, killing a full third of the Astartes involved in the long and savage war. The forces that follow detail a portion of the taskforce dispatched to fight on that terrible planet...

Hexo Kingslayer:
When the extent of the Ork threat on H'rax was made known, Captain Hexo of the First Company chose to join the campaign personally. Swearing an oath to personally slay Warlord Grumgoff Helmsmasha, Hexo joined the battle wherever Ork chieftains could be found. Hexo ultimately perished during the Siege of Mork, but when the Supernovas returned to recover their dead they found Hexo's body with hands locked around Grumgoff's neck, his vow upheld with his dying breath. In honour of his feat, he was granted the title "Kingslayer", and his body returned to Tasal for a hero's burial.
Wolf Lord.
Terminator Armour.
Thunder Hammer & Storm Shield.
Saga of the Bear.
-215pts.

Kasn the Blighted:
Kasn was born aboard the Vulyi War-Train. Where it not for the terrible events of his tenth birthday, he may have spent his life amongst the growling engines. However, Kasn was a Psyker, and on that day his powers awoke with fury enough to annihilate his home, and all who dwelt within. The Supernovas found a blackened circle of felled jungle half a mile across, and the Warp-touched child lying burnt at its heart.
Under the long and harsh vigil of the Chapter Librarians, Kasn became a Space Marine, and in time rose to serve the First Company. His powers were beyond reckoning, able to summon the fury of the Warp to annihilate his foes. Entire bastions crumbled in howling Warp-gales, and it is said the souls of ten thousand Orks scream in eternal agony because of his dark curses.

Njal Stormcaller.
Runic Terminator Armour.
-270pts.

Hexo's Fist:
As the war continued, teleport-attacks became increasingly dangerous. Power Fields prevented entry, sensors were scrambled from atmospheric distortion, and often it was impossible to tell if the marks on the old, fading maps were empty storage rooms, or hollows filled in with liquid rockcrete. So as not to risk losing their precious Terminators, Hexo took to using specially modified Drop Pods to deploy himself and his First Company brethren into the field of battle. Though terrifying to experience, and incredibly dangerous, it meant the warriors on the front line received the vital aid of their Veteran Battle-Brothers.
Wolf Guard with Terminator Armour & a pair of Wolf Claws.
Wolf Guard with Terminator Armour, Combi-Melta & Frost Blade.
Wolf Guard with Terminator Armour, Storm Shield & Assault Cannon.
Drop Pod.
-219pts.

Stalker Squad:
There were at least twenty "Stalkers" active on H'rax during the war. Moving deep behind enemy lines, typically in five man units, Stalkers brought chaos and death wherever the Orks believed themselves strongest. They would appear from nowhere, their arrival heralded by the boom of exploding fuel dumps, or the crack as once impregnable fortress walls came crashing down. When the fight was over, no trace of the Stalkers would be found. When victory was achieved, the Stalkers appeared from the ruins and boarded the transports without a word.
1 Wolf Scouts with Meltagun.
1 Wolf Scout with power weapon.
3 Wolf Scouts with bolt pistol & ccw.
Wolf Guard: Combi Bolter-Melta, Melta Bombs & Mark of The Wulfen.
-143pts.

Supernovan Battle Squad:
Supernovas believe in pounding the enemy with relentless Bolter fire, switching to their swords when the enemy draw too close. Paternaturally fast, and hardened by a lifetime of combat even before becoming Space Marines, the Battle Squads formed the core of every taskforce.
1 Grey Hunter with Power Fist.
2 Grey Hunters with Meltagun.
7 Grey Hunters.
Rhino.
-215pts.

Novitae Assault Squad:
So brutal and bloody was the war on H'rax that Assault Squads became permanent parts of the Supernovan taskforce. To meet the demand for men, the rules barring Novitae from adopting this role was recended. Equipped with Power Armour and promised full Battle Brother status upon their success, Novitae Assault Squads tore headlong into the foe heedless of peril, making up for lack of skill with sheer, uncurbed fury.
1 Blood Claw with Power Fist.
8 Blood Claws.
Wolf Guard: Frost Blade.
Rhino.
-233pts

Siege Engines:
As the war progressed, more and more vehicles were modified to better suit the conditions the Supernovas faced. Rhinos became Whirlwinds, Predators became Vindicators, and anything that could support a multi-melta or siege shield was fitted with one. The Enginseers supporting the Imperial Guard were appauled at this unsanctioned modification of blessed vehicles, but they had no authority to stop the Techpriests. Even if they did, they would not have dared; half the Third Battlegroup was using Demolishers and Thunderers refitted in Supernovan workshops.
Vindicator - 115pts.
Whirlwind - 85pts.

Total: 1,495

Good fluff, but I was wondering if there was a point to giving Kasn (Njal) Runic Terminator Armour? If you get rid of that, then you could give a few more upgrades to Hexo or a special weapon to the Novitae (which they can use since they have a wolf guard to accompany them). I'm not a fan of small, suicidal Terminator squads, but you can tell us how they work out.

Just a quick point, you have 2 scouts equipped with meltaguns when you are only allowed to take 1!

I presume this is what I'll be up against tomorrow?

Probably... though I may well re-write it, since I honestly doubt it'd work well on the field. :P

Fair do's, I have to say that the two lists I'll test tomorrow are purely built around variations on Norse battle tactics, ie. the shieldwall and the 'boars tusk'. They too could be better gaming wise...but they'll look damned cool! ;D

Personally if you are going for fluff, the the Saga of the Bear is out of place. Instead you should put in the Beastslayer saga, as an Ork Warboss did managed to kill him in the end, but at the cost of its own life. An Ork Warboss is tough as hell, so it should be represented that your captain will try to kill him at all cost and none of the other saga suits him except the Beastslayer saga.

In game terms, an Ork Warboss is a T5 being and would suffer under the beastslayer saga. And to spice it up further, just take the Wolftooth necklace to represent how determined he is in killing that Warboss.

I thought a Warboss was T4 and S5, also the saga of the bear has the'oath' saying that you should hunt down enemy characters IIRC.

Saga of the Bear and Saga of the Beastslayer is fine for the likes of this "Wolf Lord". I think WG want Saga of the Bear so his "Wolf Lord" won't get ID'd by the Warboss's PK :P
