Default The mandatory 1,500pt Space Wolf list

I have to write up a Space Wolf list - it's a law.

Speaking of Laws, I cannot stand people who don't do Space Wolves right. To this end, here are the RULES for commenting on this list;
  • Where possible, the "Leaders of The Pack" rule applies to Wolf Guard as well.
  • There is no such thing as Deep Strike.
  • Oaths are mandatory - if one is included, its owner will be seeking to complete the Oath.

Wolf Lord Haarkon 'the Bastard'
Storm Bolter.
Thunder Hammer.
Terminator Armour.
Saga of The Bear
190pts.

Rune Priest Skald Ravenclaw:
Runic Armour.
Chooser of The Slain.
-130pts.

Wolf Priest Eric Wolfbrow:
Saga of The Beastslayer.
-110pts.

The Wolf Guard:
Osmo: Wolf Guard with Terminator Armour, Assault Cannon and Power Fist.
Dalk: Wolf Guard with Terminator Armour, Thunder Hammer & Storm Shield.
Kyy: Wolf Guard with Terminator Armour, Storm Bolter & Power Weapon.
Kokko: Wolf Guard with Bolt Pistol & Frost Blade. - Leads the Blood Claws.
Ulf: Wolf Guard with Bolt Pistol & Power Weapon - Leads the Grey Hunters.
Danzig The Cursed: Wolf Guard with Bolt Pistol, Close Combat Weapon & Mark of The Wulfen. - Leads the Wolf Scouts.
Land Raider with Extra Armour.
-533pts.

Wolf Scouts:
Scout with Meltagun.
Scout with Plasma Pistol.
Scout with Power Weapon.
2x Scouts.
115pts.

Grey Hunter Pack:
Grey Hunter with Meltagun.
Grey Hunter with Power Weapon.
Rhino with Extra Armour.
-205pts.

Blood Claw Pack:
Blood Claw with Power Fist.
Blood Claw with Meltagun.
7 Blood Claws.
Rhino with Extra Armour.
-215pts

TOTAL: 1,498pts.

Deployment is nice and simple; Grey Hunters have a Rhino, Blood Claws have a Rhino, Scouts sneak off and everyone else jumps in the Land Raider.

Needs more thunderwolf cavalry.

Yes, I'm going to push these guys in every SW list I comment on. They're full of incredible win both in theory and in practice.

Right now you're basically relying upon 3 meltaguns and an assault cannon for anti-tank... more anti-tank would be nice, but if you're comfortable with the list you could manage.

I'm sure I wrote "Thunder Hammer" a couple of times, and "Power Fist" at least once. :P

I'm talking about AV14. Any marine that even pretends to enjoy his fists can destroy a non-LR in melee anyways.

6's to hit followed by 6's to glance aren't good anti-tank in my books.

...Wait, wait, wait... you mean when listing my ways to kill Land Raiders, you completely missed the god-damn double-Godhammers!?

My army is not going to run into more AV14 than my current firepower and close-combat capability can handle, I guarantee that.

Shhhh. :-[

I saw it but it didn't click in when I posted. Still, if you think a ~5% chance per shot to slag a raider is good, go nuts. Just saying that you need to be very smart with what little AP1 you have.

I am familiar with Mathhammer. I tell it to piss off at every opportunity. If you are sat behind a calculator pointing out victory is impossible due to only having a 32% chance of actually destroying targets X, Y and Z, you aren't playing the game right.

Mathhammer tells you what's a good option in an isolated situation, never in the game. It assists, it can even guide, but never controls.

For the record, I do all my mathhammer in my head. It helps when you can calculate the odds of specific situations mid-game. Even still, I often ignore my own predictions. Mathhammer does nothing more than give you an idea of what your unit is capable of doing. It's a very exact way of saying "lascannon kill space marine good."

Still, I know why you hate it. It doesn't make it wrong, though. A melta's still far better than a lascannon at popping AV14.

crazyguy is right. You should at least take a pintle-mounted multi-melta on the Land Raider instead of extra armour. I personally prefer the LRC for delivering a close combat unit, but if you really like regular LR then keep it.
