Default Doublewing. 1750. (Also a DW list as well)

Decided I really like termies (and can get a heap for cheap). So a doublewing army instead of pure raven wing it will be (for now).

Your ravenwing squads are good, HQ's are obvious. Your termie squads are subpar, imo. First of all, decide if you want the squad to be shooty or assaulty. You do not want to mix the two (while you may think it's nice for wound allocation, with only five guys it's not that difficult to allocate wounds anyways). Leave your sergeants stock and get those extra storm bolter shots (I have a few stories to tell about my sergeants doing amazing things with those storm bolters, so hey... they're useful).

The cyclone missile launcher is kind of worthless, really. With only one shot, you run into what's known as "railgun syndrome" in my area (that is, you have one shot that absolutely must hit or that turn's pretty much been wasted). I've also tried running two cyclones with little improvement. The assault cannon is better versus both vehicles and infantry. I'd rather have an assault cannon and no chainfists than two chainfists and a cyclone. I'd even recommend a heavy flamer over the cyclone and then suggest you deathwing assault that squad (my heavy flamer squad is the only one I ever both deepstriking).

Instead of a drop-pod dread, I'd actually recommend a tllas/missile dread. What you lack is long range firepower. Make it venerable and it'll soak up fire like the dickens. Land speeders would probably fit the theme better, however, and are great little vehicles.

CML was going to be an Assault Cannon. But I couldn't find the points. The idea for the DWT squads is that they come down mid field. Shoot what ever they can before getting into assault.

The fists in the RWS are only a precaution to the inevitable drop dreads and similar units.

There's nothing wrong with fists in RWS. Some people say they're wasted because you never want to be in close combat with them, but others say to use them because of the possibility (I'm in this camp).

With your deathwing squads, like I said, pick a focus. Thunder hammer/storm shields are nearly worthless in a deathwing list. You're trading a storm bolter for a 4+ invulnerable only in close combat. :-\ If you really want 5 fists in each squad, give the sergeant the chainfist. For deathwing, our close combat generally comes from lightning claws. TH/SS is rather subpar for us. Without that permanent 3++, it really is nearly pointless. If you want to run a close combat list, you're going to want land raiders. DWA, while nice, can easily get huge portions of your army killed in one go. Termies, especially assault termies, are also excessively slow without a raider.

That said... in the end it's your list. You can easily make it work, I'm just offering my point of view on playing deathwing.

I've ran it... ugh. The lack of mobility hurts. That said, it can be done and you can win games (just don't expect to win capture and control... that's a tough one for a walking list :-\). You'll do great in kill points save against the speediest of armies and 3-5 objective games are easy.

If you're running pure foot, you need guns. Lots and lots of guns. That means assault cannons for us. The chaplain will only see combat against combaty lists, and they're going to be getting the charge if you're playing a good opponent so his ability's wasted. Belial will want the storm bolter. I'd take a librarian or even a tllas/missile dread over the chaplain.

So the basic idea.

Use the CML squads to lay waste to transports early, or use Frag to clear infantry.

Assault cannon squad to deploy as close to thier rear as possible and sandwich what I can.

Assault squad + chappy + belial comes down later in the game to clear things up that are locked in combat.

Try it out, for sure. With three cyclones, you should theoretically do something every turn (at least that's the hope, haha). Maybe you'll have more luck with em than I do. Biggest piece of advice I can give is to be bold with your deepstrikes. You're far more likely to go 6"-8" than any other number.
