Default The end of the begining-panzer brigade army completion with pics

Last year i finally broke down and decided to build my own DIY marine chapter not tied to ay sub dex or specific historical chapter/legion. The idea behind which was to make both an effective list but also, and more importantly, a theme based list.

.i used no special characters and my intended goal was to have a representative of every company on the table in a normal game.

With the recent release of the ironclad dreadnoughts i was finally able to finish the project and make it WYSIWYG.

Combat doctrines-

Air cavalry/precision strikes, favoring drop pod and thunderhawk delivery. there are no land raider or rhino based chassis in their armory but they have an unusual proficiency (and an STC) at producing dreadnought hulls. which incidentally work well with thunderhawk delivery as it can carry one in the nose plus several tactical, assault or scout squads. because of their air-mobile nature they diverge from the codex in the fact they do not maintain a devastator company, their preference for rapid reaction and lightning strikes has given them a dim view of establishing static fixed heavy gun positions already filled by more mobile dreadnoughts of the first and fourth companies. also because of their reliance on thunderhawks, due to space contraints, and production priorities land speeders see limited use.

Background-
Due to their small size nothing is wasted and almost every battle brother who falls and cannot be healed by the apothecarium continues to fight for the chapter as a dreadnought intered warrior.

Home world-
The panzer brigade prefers the mobility of a fleet based chapter, however their lone recruting world of zathris V, a deathworld, was chosen due to the nature of it's geography. being mostly mountainous terrain with deep valleys of lush vegitation filled with deadly flora and fauna. human settlements developed on high terraced bastions built into the mountainous terrain. the human inhabitants long ago abandonded long distance ground travel in favor of flight, powered and un-powered. Recruits are thus well prepared for the combat ethos extolled by the chapters instruction masters.

Haven't played against Space Marines since 3rd edition, so I gotta ask - is that a legit army with six dreads!?! Yikes!!! And I felt kinda cheesy fielding two dreads and two defilers in my CSM army . . . guess I don't feel guilty anymore

I really like the look and feel of it, I never liked tanks and rhinos with space marines, the dreads give it a totally different feel.

Totally legit. used to be the "iron hands" build, but with the new system just taking the MOTF as your HQ allows you to take dreads as heavies and elites.

Yikes! Glad my SM opponent has been using Eldar and Dk Eldar the past few years instead.
