Default 1750 Marines Tournament list

Ok, so this is not the sort of list I usually run. For starters it is missing a tactical squad, and I don't have either of my trusty predators in it.. That being said, the core of the army hasn't changed much.

HQ
Chaplain - 130
Jump Pack
Digital Weapons
Meltabombs

ELITES
Dreadnought - 150
Assault Cannon
Drop Pod

Dreadnought - 160
Assault Cannon
Heavy Flamer
Drop Pod

TROOPS
Tactical Squad - 230
5 Additional Marines
Power Fist
Flamer
Missile Launcher
Rhino

Tactical Squad - 235
5 Additional Marines
Power Fist
Flamer
Plasma Cannon
Rhino

Tactical Squad - 220
5 Additional Marines
Combimelta
Meltagun
Multimelta
Drop Pod

FAST ATTACK
Assault Squad - 225
5 Additional Marines
Power Fist
Flamer

Landspeeder Squadron - 200
2 Landspeeders
Typhoon Missile Launchers
Multimeltas

Landspeeder Squadron - 200
2 Landspeeders
Typhoon Missile Launchers
Multimeltas

What do you guys reckon? Any constructive criticism is greatly appreciated. I know its pretty cut and paste at the moment, but its only a rough idea for now. I don't know about the Chaplain.. I haven't fielded one since they got hit with the nerf bat when the codex was released...

I think that the dreadnoughts would be fine walking. They can hide behind the Rhinos on the first turn and fire over them. Assault cannons aren't as devastating as they used to be, and there isn't a huge need for them to be dropped in your opponent's face (and melta range). With the extra points, you might want to beef up the assault squad.

Actually I misread that and thought there were only 6 assault marines.

My suggestion would be to reconsider the land speeders' equipment, since you're paying 100 pts for each one - that combined with their low armour makes them one hell of a target.

@abc.d - yeah, I could do that.. But the whole reason they're in the list is to hunt other light vehicles, such as Vypers and Landspeeders which hide from me and contest objectives on the last turn.. I figure I can hold them in reserve, and bring them on the field in the most appropriate place. With the 60" threat radius of the Typhoon Missiles, they are fantastic vehicle hunters. I am thinking about dropping the MMs and replacing them with Heavy Bolters, I guess playtesting will tell me that.

The reason I dropped the 2nd squadron is two-fold. 1, I am a university student, and thus have no money to buy Landspeeders when they cost Au$50 each. Secondly, I get uneasy feelings when I don't have at least 1 Lascannon in an army. So I put my trusty Predator back in, dropped a Speeder Squadron and Melta Bombs on the Chaplain, and picked up a pair of Deathwind Launchers on the Dreadnought Drop Pods.

Like I said, playtesting will show up some strengths and weaknesses. I'm on holidays for 5 weeks from tomorrow morning (last exam of semester finishes at 10.15am, oh yeah baby!) so I have plenty of time to devote to list crafting.

What do people think now?
