Default Marauders......going for about 1750pts

Okay, got the marine codex today, apart from the ultra spam it seems pretty cool. When painting my Emporers Children I finially found a sweet, and easy method for painting yellow, but a local already plays Imperial Fists, so I've been scouring for a cool chapter to do. A firend suggested that I do Marauders as they seem to fit the play style I want to go for, but still being yellow....

My Idea was Captain on bike leading a combat bike squad
a shooty attack bike squad
a teleport libby
2 drop pod marine squads
van vets
land speeder squad

this is the list i came up with

HQ
Kor'sarro Khan (counts as <insert cool name here&gt
command squad on bikes
-company champion
-2 others with power weapons
-apothecary
=410pts
pretty expensive but should hit like a ton of bricks, and has furious charge/ hit and run and feel no pain
Librarian
-Gate
-Vortex
=100pts
goes with a drop poding marine squad, vortex's for abit, then gates to an objective late game
TROOPS
8 man bike squad
-combi plasma
-2 plasma guns
-attack bike with multi melta
=305pts
combat squad, hold some back to rush an objective late in the game and rush the plasma's forward early and put heavy pressure on something (3 rapid fireing plasma's will hurt), can the attack bike go around on it's own like dark angels, if not i'll drop the multi melta
10 man tac squad
-melta gun
-power fist
-drop pod
=235pts
10 man tac squad
-melta gun
-power fist
-drop pod
=235pts
pod in close and put heavy pressure down, should be good for a laugh
FAST ATTACK
5 Vanguards
-Jetpacks
-2 power weapons
=205pts
deep strike them down and assult something hard
3 Land speeders
-3 tornado multi meltas
=210pts
1 attack bike
-multi melta
=50pts

So all of us bar Aaron are making new armies then aye? You going with the SM or the Orks?


Anyway. The list looks solid, My only concern for you is the only anti tank you have is landspeeder multimeltas (if the attack bike cant split). Any smart player will take them out turn 1 or 2 and thus they wont do much damage.

and the melta guns, and the grenades that hit on rear armour, and the powerfists, and vortex.

Also if I got long range anti tank it wouldnt get to shoot, as I'll be in its line of sight in turn one, still it is someting to note...

Aaron is doing a marine army as well, and I'm doing both, my orks are all build and sitting there looking all built like. This is just for something completly different (lotsa bike, lotsa get in your face, no heavy support)

I meant anti tank that can punch through AV 14. Sorry.


Ohh thats right... Aaron being Aaron cant stay away from cheese and is doing that full drop pod army with three dropdreads.

ah I see, I see, well powerfists can scratch it, and melta weapons can harm it, but outside of 12" the land raider will own me, if it's a monolith, then I gotta hope my powerfists can do something....

but if it's a monolith then I'm againsat necrons, so I'll just go for phase out


I don't think a full pod army is cheese, really it's just power armoured daemons, which has it's own set of drawbacks in and of itself. The new codex, while lets you hae some powerful options, doesn't lend itself to point and click 'I win' armies, like oh say, a all khorne daemon army against space marines

Can you give one of those drop units a multimelta if you drop it from the attack bike?

Multi melta's being free I suppose I could squeeze some in.

I don't want to go with eavies though, because it's too static and I have my chaos for that, although a multi melta right in your face will be a problem......
