Default 1500pts developed from AOBR and battle box (5th ed Codex Army)

List currently reads:

-HQ
Captain with Storm bolter, power sword and digi weapons (128) <--- with combat squad from tactical squad.
Chaplain with J. Pack and Plasma pistol (130) <---with Assault squad.

-Elite
Dreadnought with MMelta, S.Bolt and P.Fist (105)
Terminators x5 with storm bolters and P.Fists (200)

-Troops
Tactical x10 with Flamer and M.L. (170)
> Rhino with HK Missile (45)
Tactical x10 with Melta and H.Bolter (180)
Scouts x5 with H.Bolter. Serg with combi melta (95)

-Fast
Assault x5. Serg with P.Fist (125)

-Heavy
Devestators (4M.L.'s), Serg with combi plasma (160)
Predator with A.Cannon and H.Bolters (85)

Total = 1418pts

Please keep in mind that I'm building from AOBR. I've tried to work around the Battle Box Set too. All comments welcome, but please keep in my the beginnings of the list (AOBR) and keeping monetary costs down (Hence battle box).

Tweaks to HQ weapons would be good feed back but with the 82pts spare I could throw some additional transports to (maybe HB Razor back and/or drop pod for Dreadnought?). It would be good to have a 'all comers' list to start off from.

1 - The thing that comes to me straight away is to use the 5 basic marines from the battle box to fill up you dev squad to full 10 men. With a min squad of devs there is no one to take as casualties, 4 men with ML's and the sergeant has the signum. A small but expensive squad like this will be on of the first targets.

2 - In my opinion i would swap one of the HQ for 5 more assault marines, either make your squad to 10 or take a new squad of 5 with powerfist sergeant you will find 5 assault marines with a powerfist will do much more damage and be harder to kill than a 2 wound chaplain.

3 - The captain doesn't really need a storm bolter of he's going forward with the combat squad. Hes either going to be in the transport or if not you will be rapid firing an not shooting were a bolter is a as good as a storm bolter or about to charge so everyone uses there bolt pistols in which case all your going to pay points for is a singe st4 shot.

4 - If your going to add transports i would recommend Razorbacks everytime, a steal at there points and only £2 more in money, tho i really don't know the difference in $.

5 - In order for your dev sergeant to use his signum he cant shoot so don't buy him any combi weapons.

6 - combi plasma on a scout is not the best place for it. i don't use any because i don't feel that many points is worth just the one use generally. if you were going to put it on someone you would be better putting it on a SM sergeant instead since they have higher BS so more likely to hit and a better save so less likely to die if it over heats.

I wrote a 1500 pt list based on yours but including the changes i would make if i were going to play.

Don't forget while the batter force and AoBR has lots of nice models if you try to include everything you might lose on competitiveness.

Cheers Shas'vre,

My army list now looks v. similar to your recommended with only one change. I've ditched the Rhino for a Drop pod for the Dreadnought.

I am also trying to squeeze points to give the Scout Sergeant a Teleport Homer. Is this worth it? Calling in the Termies to back-up the scouts in an advanced position seems tempting. In order to do this however I would either need to:
1. Keep my second Tactical squad with a Flamer/ML combo.
OR
2. Form the two assualt squads into one and lose the P.Fist.

I'd appreiciate any/all comments on this.

i'd say form the assault squad into one.

also it seems like relic blades are a pretty popular choice nowadays. so if you want rearrange some things around and throw in the reic blade!

Cool, ten man squad it is. Serg with P.Fist. Can't fit the Serg with Relic Blade. Only my Captain can take this>what did you mean Mr Panda?.

Can I confirm that the Tele-homer is a good idea for the scouts? I like the idea of the drop pod dread and Termie's backing up the scouts as and when they need it.

I am open to other tactical ideas, so any all comments welcome.
