Default Flesh Tearers 2nd Company (1000pts & 1500pts)

The following lists are my current armies, I have a couple of variants for my 1000pts list, but not so for the 1500pts.

The 1000pts is my usual 'take to GW' list, the 1500pts however is for Grand Tournament this year. I would like it alot if you guys would help me with the list. comments EXTREMELY welcome.

I need a few ideas on how to make the 1500pts better, but I think I've stuck to fluff really well. hope you guys wont find much wrong with the lists.

i wouldnt take power fist on your chappy both fluff wise and game wise his power wepony thing is his symbol of office so wouldnt use a pf and power fists on chrectors wastes there superior init. drop the vet serg all together in the devi squad whats he gonna do. squap the multi maelta on the landspeeder for assault cannon. i would also expand on the units. 4 dc wtf? ???

He can either use his PF or his Crozius. So, with a weaker toughness foe he can use the power weapon, on a higher toughness foe... or vehicles, he uses his power fist.

Well a few things.

I will only be commenting on the 1500pt list. I dont play 1000pt games so I will not be able to talk from experience.

Dev Squad.
Drop the Powerfist. It is going to do you almost no good. You have 4 missle launchers. You are going to be sitting still and shooting every turn. That is a 25 point waste.

Another potential problem is you only have 5 bodies. If you don't go first, this unit will probly be a high target your your opponent. Which means loosing one model will make you loose either a Powerfist or a missle launcher. It will also be easy to wipe out this squad in one turn.

Suggestion: Drop the fist and try to up it to a full squad.

Assault Squads:

I don't like small assault squads except for the Death Company. I would either combine the two into one squad or I would at least run them together so they could act as one squad.

On a side note I dont like combat squads except for Dev Squads.

Landspeeder: Nothing wrong with it. I would if points allowed, either add a flamer, or add the AC. The flamer is nice since if you position just right you can "shot" at a tank with the melta and the flamer and catch some troopers with the flamer as well.

Chappy: Nothing wrong with having a fist on the chappy.

Death Company: Nothing wrong with the size. Be warned that every lost from that squad will be felt in a bad way. The more in the squad the more it will throw off your opponents game.

Dred: I don't use them in my army. They are too slow. but you are drop podding them in so that could help.

TechPreist: What is his role in the army. He will probly not be able to repair any vehicles which you have one. He is a 125 none scoring unit. I don't like it.

Scouts: They are nice but I just think the points could be used differently

A ten man Assault squad with Power Fist is 275. If you drop the Tech Preist, Scouts, and Powerfist on the Dev Sarg thats 270. If you could find 5 more points you just added another 10 Man squad.

BTW: this would drop the cost of the Death Company by 30 points netting you 25 points. So you dont have to drop the fist but I would.


Over all recap of what I would change in your list.

Drop Dred and Drop pod. 190pts
Drop Fist in Dev squad 25pts
Drop Tec Preist 125pts
Drop Scout squad 120pts
Total Dropped 460pts

Add 10 Man Assault Squad w Fist 275pts
Add Baal Pred w HB Spon/ SB/Extra Armour 150pts
Add Landspeeder 65pts
Total Added 490pts
Less 30 for extra Death Comp 460pts


Hope this gives you some ideas to think about. I would not expect you to go with everyone of my suggestions, but at least think about some of them.

Edit: I just realized that instead of adding the Baal, you could increase one of the 5 man assault squad up to 10.

I'll have a few play tests.

I know what you mean about the techmarine.

But, he's a heavily converted model... and kind of a show peice.

I like the idea of another speeder and another squad.

Dreadnought MUST stay.

I've spent too much money on him to not use him... lol.

Scouts are odd conversions too. But.. they can sit out.

Dropping the scouts and techpriest.

Adding 5 more bodies to the Dev Squad and another Assault squad.

and adding an extra Death Company marine.

OR

Instead of the extra Death Company marine, taking the Power fist away from the Dev Sgt. and having a Meltagun instead of a Plasmagun.

Then adding in a Landspeeder.

OK if you take out the Tech Preist and the scouts and keep the Death Company at 4 models, and remove the powerfist on the Dev Sarg (I just really don't like that... Sorry) That will give you 300 points to add.

Add the extra Assault Squad 165
Up the Dev squad to ten 75

That leaves you with 60 points. You could use these points to add 4 plasma pistols to your assault squads. This will give you a better chance with vehicles and allow you to soften up some harder units before you assualt them.

But either option should work well for you.

Played a Tau player last night, with the 1000pts list, he had nothing left. my Devastator squad was untouched, (god bless cover) I had a Vet. Sgt left, a normal marine with him, my Dread, and my Chaplain on one wound left.

Dread killed off a HUGE squad of kroot, my death company, my Chaplain, and one assault squad killed off another huge squad of kroot and a fire warrior team.

My deepstriking Assault squad killed off a fire warrior team, and a broadside.. AND a Hammer head... (rear armour, power fist... BOOYAH)

Chaplain took out commander.

My Devastators took out half of the fire warriors before my Assault squads touched them.

Devastators took out a squad of stealth suits in HtH. (thank christ for that powerfist).
