Default 1500pts Revenants Tau Hunting

This is my 1500pt Divergent marine list need Comments on anti Tauness
Minor divergence: Cleanse and Purify
Minor drawback We stand alone

1 Captain, Jump Pack, Lightning claws, Termie Honours, Iron Halo, Artificer Armour=170

1 Codicer, Forceweapon, Psycic Hood, Termie armour, Vortex of doom, stormbolter.
Termie Retinue, 1 sgt, 3 termies, 2 assault cannons=340(inc librarian)

1 Dreadnaught, with twin Las, Twin missile=135

6 Assault Marines, 1 plasmapistol, Vet sgt with powerfist=167
6 Assault Marines, 1 plasmapistol, Vet sgt with powerfist=167
1 Landspeeder Tornado (Hvy Bolter and Assault Cannon)=80

5 Tactical Marines, Lascannon=90
8 Tactical Marines, 2 Meltas, Vet sgt with powerfist, Rhino with smokes=228
5 Scouts, 4 sniper rifles, 1 Missile, Vet sgt with surveyor, Teleport homer and powerweapon=125

=1502pts, Comments on anti Tau???

Not a bad choice. Defiantly going to eat Tau in CC, but then so do Grots. As long as he is with a unit, he will be ok.

I assume these guys are deep striking - if thats the case, I suggest a tele homer on an assault sergeant, or your captain.
The problem with this unit, they are trying to do opposite things. Your libbie should be in combat, but his retinue are better at supporting fire. Either you want an assault termie retinue, or can I suggest taking a normal shooty termie unit, and giving the libby a jump pack and going with the other assault marine unit?

Twin missile? I'm not so sure the missile launcher is twin linked...
Other wise, nice little anti tank support unit. Keep him hidden though - dreads are soo easy to take out by Tau.

Assault units are small, very small.... they are going to have to make brilliant use of cover, as otherwise they will get shot into uselessness very easily.

Landspeeder - If you're lucky, you'll get one turn shooting from him, then he dies. Maybe points better spent elsewhere?

Not bad. The 5 marine unit is very small though - it will be easy to kill the lascannon either wiping them out, or Torrent of Fire.

8 Marines in Rhino might be better off in a Razorback. Rhino's now are nothing more than death traps, especially against Tau or IG. At least the razorback can provide support fire.
Scouts - good choices, power weapon is probably unnecessary though.



Overall - not bad, but a lot of it will require cover to keep it alive. If I were playing you, (assuming average cover) and I got first turn you could expect -

Dread gone.
Rhino gone - two killed, the rest pinned
One assault unit down to a couple of models, if not killed
Lascannon unit most likely killed.
Speeder down.
Scouts gone.
Now, I know that doesn't take into account dice rolls, cover etc. But I could be reasonably confident in that, taking my 1500pts against it.

Hope this helps, and have fun. And remember to make use of cover!


Suggestions:

Maybe put the libby, with jump pack and Might of Hero's with the other assault squad.
Drop speeder
Drop two marines from the 8 man unit, and give them a razorback with Heavy Bolters instead.
Extra armour on the dread.

Maybe a couple extra men on the 5 man lascannon.
