500pt marine army

Default 500pt marine army

hi anybody have any ldeas regarding a 500pt marine army to take to local doubles tourny
army list at the moment
drednought assault cannon p/fist
5 x marines
razorback transport (hvy bolter)
land speeder tornado x2 assault cannon and hvy bolter
was thinking of taking a predator destructor autocannon and hvy bolter sponsons

my partner will be taking imp guard

Is the tournament going to be lax about the force orginization chart? All I see is one troop and no HQ. Oh, and a lot of crap that would get you punched out by most people in a 500 pt game. I mean a dreadnought and 2 land speeder tornados in a 500 pt game? Even with a team mate thats way overkill.

Personally I hope that there is a comp score, that it is a huge part of what will win in the tournament and that you get a 0 from all your opponents, because your list is exactly whats wrong with a lot of 40k players today.

Try something like this:

Commander w/ power weapon, bolt pistol 76pts

8 Marines w/ heavy bolter, plasma gun 125pts

6 Marines w/ heavy bolter, plasma gun 90 pts

8 scouts w/combat weapon, bolt pistol 104pts

Dreadnought 105 pts

Exactly 500pts, will do really well in a tournament and not so cheesy that anyone will cry foul.

thers no hq because the tourny rules say that yo0u only need to take 1 hq and i think the imp guard with the attached hvy weapons was a better choice

like the list you posted but not realy sure about the scouts

The scouts are in there for 2 reasons. The scouts are your only real hth units (not including your commander) so if you face a really assault based force you can use them to counterstrike. Secondly you can actually hinder your opponents tactics, if they are a shooty army you have them close enough that with careful movement you can be assaulting his shooty units second turn, and if you are facing an assault based army, well your scouts in terrain will be a huge speed bump for them allowing you an extra turn or two of firing before they hit your line (heck you might even be able to wipe that unit out, thus negating their attack).

I'd recommend to drop the dread, and take more scouts.
Guardsmen are nigh terrible in melee. (I know, I play Guard :)
Get a squad of scouts in there, and all hell breaks loose.
The Guard keeps too many heavy weapons for the dread to be safe.
Easy victory points in my view.

That would be quite possible.
Keep them in cover, and annihilate their flank.
In the meantime move your heavybolter squads into proper range and cover.

one with plasma pistol 115

Depends upon your opponent, but a Flamer may be a better choice than a Plasma pistol for small assault squads.

maybe put the killing punch of a plasma pistol to kill both troops and light vehicles seems better
