Default Shooty killing machine

I've never tried a shooty marine army so heres my attempt.

Captain-Power wepon-Bolt pistol-Jump pack-Terminator honors 115

6 space marines-plasma gun-Heavy Bolter 105

6 space marines-plasma gun-Heavy Bolter 105

6 space marines-plasma gun-Heavy Bolter 105

6 space marines-plasma gun-Heavy Bolter 105

6 space marines-plasma gun-Lascannon 115

6 space marines-plasma gun-Lascannon 115

Land Speeder Tornado 80

Land Speeder Tornado 80

Land Speeder Tornado 80

Predator Destructor-Heavy Bolters 110

Preditor Destructor-Lascannons 125
Total-1240

I can't decide what to do with the remaining points. It looks like i need some more anti tank.I'm trying to stay away from lots of lascannons. All in all I just can't find anything that helps this theme out that has a good cost to effect ratio.
Maybee termies?

Wow thats a lot of firepower.

If your trying to go 100% shooty then how about devastators or a dreadnought with assault cannon and M/launcher? Personally I would try and fill out the tactical squads a bit more.

devestators or maxing out the marines squads a bit more seems quite logical.

The captain is a waste of points... he's the only combat guy in the army and shouldnt (ignoring the rules) be able to be a strong force on his own.

Depending on who you're against land speeders can be very vulnerable, so i'd drop them in favour of 2x assault termies (assuming you bought them for that)

He's a counter assualt force and...(why does he have a jump pack?)Well It's just that I don't want to buy a new commander. And he's fairly good.

Besides what other use can a space marine charecter be than assualt?
Storm bolters arn't that shooty and your wasteing that butiful statline without.

This might work though.
Captin-storm bolter-4 man command squad with 2 heavy bolters.-155

I don't really like the dreadnought and Devistators don't look that good for their points,15 point Heavy bolter, 35 point lascannon-%%!!@#.

I guess i could use the Honor your wargear and Die standing to:
Elite:6 devistators-4 heavy bolters-Infaltrate-165

Or(Maybee both?)

Elite:
5 devistators-4 missle launchers-tank hunters-167

I have gone up against an army a few times now very similar to this one. Only difference was not tanks, all troops. He did have a terminator Squad that was also nasty.

I would get a Devs Unit with with 4 heavy Bolters. Or I gues 4 MLs would work as well.

I'd change the Captain's Power Weapon and Bolt Pistol for a Pair of Lightning Claws (much more rippy!) and give him Frag Grenades, as well maybe upgrading him to Master status for that extra Wound.

Another fine and quite cheap choice for Antiarmor would be a 6-men Veteran LasPlas squad with Tank Hunters. However, that/those Dev squad/s would wind up even better in many cases.

If you want lascannons, I suggest using the Anhillator with Heavy Bolter Sponsons, it can be (somewhat) mobile and still fire all its weapons... give them both pintle Storm bolters for extra dakka...

I don't like taking devastators either, theyr'e such a point sink. I would, however, go with the AC/ML Venerable dread with Tank Hunters...

However, Devastators tend to be much more resilient than even Venerable Dreads and remain scoring units much longer.

I'm not particularly in favor of Pintle Storm Bolters, as for 5 more points you get an additional Marine___1 more warm body can go a long way sometimes. Or you could get more useful upgrades, like Iron Halo, Adamantine Mantle, Powerfists and tutti quanti (----» "and so on").

It's all preference, if you want to get the most shooting possible out of your pred, or you have the extra points but want to keep the size for your marines... I'm just sayign that's what I would do in the sitution, mainly because I like the Dread better than the Devs...
