Default Omega Marines 1850 Concept

For those of you unfamiliar with the idea, Omega Marines is a style of play designed to work in all types of missions; specifically, Omega missions and Escalation. The idea is to pack in as many infantry models as possible. This makes for a very durable army, as most people simply can't deal with that many power-armoured models on the field. The army has to make good use of Infiltrating models in order to make up for its lack of mobility. Here's my take on it.
Standard equipment unless otherwise specified.

Looks like a very potent list, with plenty of warm bodies and the guns to back them up. However, you've got only a single unit geared for melee, so it won't be able to have decent support in close combat IMO. Maybe configuring a Vet squad to get mano-a-mano would enable it to provide said close-in support.

Also, Power Weapons on HQs are pretty wasteful in my experience. You'd get a lot more mileage out of Lightning Claws.

Well, the command squad isn't really geared towards close combat. If they were, they'd have BP/CCWs and meltaguns instead of bolters and plasma guns. They're there for the tough, infiltrating scoring unit and they have a little extra kit to keep them safer in close combat. Give the opponent a bloody nose before it's over, and let the shooting handle it from there.
Ultimately, Lightning Claws are indeed better than power weapons, but they're expensive as all get out. It's a 50% increase (against MEQs; 22% and 14% against T5 and 6 respectively) for a 100% increase in points over the power weapon. Regardless, I just don't have the points.
Thanks for the comment.

I would ditch the infultration squads and take assault squads instead. The rest of the army is geared for shooting so you don't want infiltrators getting isolated. Assault Squads would sit back and then counter assault when the enemy breaches your gun line.

If the 3 infiltrating squads all end up in the same place i wouldnt call it 'isolated'. If they're spread out, your a fool.

Quite a good army it seems... Have you run the powergamer test?

Yes, I have. I got a 2, Excellent Gamer. Although, I've gotta say, the test is outdated. Also, it's ridiculously easy for Alpha Legion to get good scores...

No assault squads.

Honestly though, this list does look like a rock solid list. I honestly like it.

i gotta agree that the powergamer test is outdated and wrong... still it seems pretty right here.

I think the most scary thing will be guard powergamers with lemans. 3 well placed shells could tear apart your army... and take out the main things

Well, there aren't a whole lot SM armies out there which aren't wrecked by 3 Russes. Only Termies (with condition of not having Russ Demolishers) and Drop Pods might be able to perform against them.
