Default Ultramarines 7th Company, 2 Army Lists

Im trying to decide how to add to my army so here are two experimental lists, one with Tyranid Hunter vets and another with standard vets and a Dreadnaught.

List 1

HQ
Master Captain Vash Thalion
-Master, Terminator Honors, Plasma Pistol, Power Weapon, Iron Halo, frag grenades, melta bombs
Total: 151pts

Chaplain Claudius
-Master of Sanctity, bolt pistol, jump pack, frag grenades, melta bombs
Total: 127

Elites:
Venerable Dreadnaught Vindicatus Morti
-Venerable, Twin Linked Lascannon, Missil Launcher, Tank Hunter
Total: 165

Veteran Squad Argentos (7)
-Terminator Honors x3 (on serg and 2 special weapon users), power fist, pair of lightning claws, power weapon, frags
Sub Total: 228
-Rhino Transport, pintle mounted storm bolter, extra armor, smoke launchers
Total: 296

Tactical Squad Tyriel (10)
-Terminator Honors, Power Fist, melta gun, frags

Army Total: 1747

3 points short of 1750, 8 scoring units, 2 rhinos, dreadnaught and 50 marines.

I have everything except the vets and the rhinos. Not sure if I wanna spend 60 bucks on rhinos and another 45 on the vets.

List 2

20pts short though all Im missing to make this list are the nid vets and the rhino. 56 or so for the nid vets and 30 for the rhino. 20pts will probably go to artificer armor on the Chaplain.

So hers the question, which list is more balanced and effective? I am leaning towards the first list as it strikes me as being more balanced and effective with a mix of offencive and defencive units where as the second is far more defencive with only a few offencive units and not enough armor to go around. Still I havent been playing marines for very long and not at such a high points level. Any suggestions as to what to do instead are welcome I have quite a few models already at my disposal. They are as follows:

11 Terminators, 2 heavy flamers, 2 sergeants, cyclone missil launcher
Captain
Jump Pack Chaplain
37 Tactical Marines, 2 missil launchers, flamer, 3 sergeants, plasma gun, melta gun, 2 unbuilt
5 Assault Marines, sergeant, 2 PP
Land Raider
Dreadnaught
6 Sniper Scouts
6 Devastators

and... I think thats it. Quite a selection of stuff.

Once again comments and suggestions are welcome I could use some advice on what to do.

Fairly nice lists, but they need quite a bit of work before they can be considered competetive. Well, let's get going.

List 1
HQ
Is the UM 7th co. captain really named Vash Thalion? Nevermind that, though. He looks good; personally, I'd drop a few bits'n'bobs, but to each his own (when it doesn't decrease effectiveness).

Chaplain - Drop him to a reclusiarch and give him Terminator Honours.

Elite
Dread - I'd recommend dropping Tank Hunter, and possibly Venerable. Right now, a Predator Annihilator might to a better job at tank-hunting.

Veterans - If you buy terminator honours on non-sergeant models, they all have to get 'em. Which makes the price sky-rocket. Drop the extras for another Veteran. I trust the p-fist is on the Sarge.

Troops
Tac Tyriel - Drop the pintle-bolter on the rhino.

Tac Oscelo - Specialize! If you want a fire-support unit, make it 6-men with a heavy weapon and a plasma gun; if you want an offensive squad like Tyriel, keep the sarge and throw in an assault weapon and transport.

Tac Altaris - Even-numbers! Get another body in there.

Tac Rhuel - Lascannons and even-numbers! Get a lascannon and another body in there.

Fast Attack
Assault Squad - Way too small to be of any use. Standard minimum is 8. You can free up some points by dropping the melta-bombs and the sarge's pistol.

Heavy Support
Dev - Blech! Mixed weapons? Bad, bad! Missile Launchers and Heavy Bolters are the best for devastator squads, since they're cheap and effective (Missile Launchers are fairly standard, since they're flexible). I recommend making it 8-strong and standardizing the weapons (not las/plascannons! Too expensive). If you don't want to increase the squad size, then go for 3 weapons, so you have more ablative shielding.

Second List
HQ
"Second verse, same as the first!"

Elite
Ditto on the dread.

TWV - Ah, even numbers! These guys are lookin' good, but you might want to spring for a power fist.

Ditto on the rest of the army.

I realize that this means quite a few new models for you, but I think there's a noticable difference in effectiveness.

I like the first list.
It looks like you intend to keep the small squads in cover, this should work.
I think you might need some more numbers in the assault squad, but it looks like a mobile plazma platform and should be good for hunting elites.
My only thought is that an assault squad like that will be targeted! more bodies could help. You can only lose 2 marines before your begin to lose plazma. The plaz on the vet could be overkill at 10 pts when you already have 2 plazma pistols in the squad and he will be charging with a powerfist.

Thanks for the comments. Sadly I gotta try and use the most of what I have, Id rather use a couple Predators instead of the overpriced Devs and the Dreadnaught but I got the models for free and without the $80 for tanks Ill have to make use of them till I can get something else. That said Ive revised the lists into one that I think will be a balanced mix. I think Ill go with the vets and add the nid hunters latter, I have enough static squads for now I could use a few more offencive.

I would add more assault marines to your squad before adding nid hunters.
