Default 1,500pt Pre-Heresy Ultramarines.

Yes, Pre-Heresy. I may explain why later.

Anyway, the list!

Captain Mathias
Force Commander with Combi Bolter-Plasmagun, Power Weapon, Melta Bombs, Artificer Armour, Bionics, Iron Halo.

9-Marine Command Squad, containing:
Veteran Sergeant with Power Fist.
Apothecary.
Standard Bearer.
Company Champion.
Marine with Plasmagun.
Marine with Meltagun.
Three Marines with Bolter.

Dreadnought Argentius:
Dreadnought with Reaper Autocannon (Assault Cannon) and Power Fist.

Justarian (Terminator) Squad:
Justarian Sergeant with Storm Bolter and Power Sword.
Justarian with Reaper Autocannon (Assault Cannon).
Three Justarian with Storm Bolter and Power Fist.

Marine Squad Primus:
Veteran Sergeant with Bolt Pistol and Close-Combat Weapon.
Marine with Missile Launcher.
Marine with Plasmagun.
Seven Marines with Bolters.

Marine Squad Secundus:
Veteran Sergeant with Bolt Pistol and Close-Combat Weapon.
Marine with Missile Launcher.
Marine with Meltagun.
Seven Marines with Bolters.

Devastator Team Alpha:
Veteran Sergeant with Bolter.
Two Marines with Lascannon.
Two Marines with Bolter.

Devastator Team Beta:
Two Marines with Heavy Bolter.
Three Marines with Bolter.

Predator:
Autocannon Turret, Heavy Bolter Sponsons, Extra Armour.

Total: 1,500pts.

Powergamer Test Score: 14... which is disappointing for me. However, I do have a degree of justification...

This list is supposed to represent a Pre-Heresy force, and we have several members of the Gaming Club making them. We all agreed that they should be HQ-heavy (to represent the superior equipment, and general "heroics" of the age). As such, it is simply made to the standards of its fellow Pre-Heresy lists. This is also why there is a large amount of Plasma used.

- Why the Combi bolter - plasma gun (always seemed like a point sink to me)
- command squad is fatty (burp) if you find yourself need points to re-tool this list look there
- Terminator squad should have a 2nd assault cannon weather that means adding another terminator or bumping up a bolter guy you call
- you got even numbered tactical squad WOOT, yet you changed over and went with 5 man devestator squads. They should be at least 6 men. The extra bolter wound is a big deal IMHO.
- What the heck is a powergaming test score. I have never heard of this could you please explain?

Because it's a cool weapon.

The Command Squad is, as stated, meant to emphasise Mathias' heroic nature. It also fits the "Rule of 10" that Marines have... if I took men off, then I'd have to explain where they went, and why Mathias is leaving bits of his personal squad at home...

The Justarian are still very much "prototype" units during the Pre-Heresy Crusades. Technically, they don't even have Storm Bolters yet (they'd have Twin-Bolters), so they won't have a lot of Reapers yet.

No. Devastator Squads are always 10-man. The two units are, in fact, the same Squad... just split into two 5-man combat teams.

Basically, it measures how fair your list is.

One flaw with this list.

There were no lascannons pre-heresy. Maybe switch them for missile launchers?

Other than that it seems to be a very good list.

No Lascannons pre-heresy? There were, I assure you, just none Predator-mounted.

That said, Plasma-cannons would be a fun alternative...

i like the list. its pretty cool and it fits. i would like to see plasma cannons instead of las cannons simply from a fluff perspective and also the odd numbered dev squads is a bit of a problem. also you will get axed by mobile armys such as eldar and dark eldar, but i s'pose thats not realy what your after.

Also where do you do these powergaming tests and what do they do cause i haven't heard of them either

Looks like a very, very nice list WG. Command squad is a bit top heavy, but i see your reasoning and so thats fine, the rule of 10 i also like to follow, but again, i see your point with the split dev squad.

I very much like the pre-heresy stuff so it looks to me like this list will kick ass, partialy based on coolness.
