Finally finished my Necron Army, I borrowed the basis for the paint scheme from here:
http://www.librarium-online.com/pain...guide-813.html But gave it my own spin. I was going for an egyptian style scheme and i'm pleased with how it turned out as I took it to a small competition down in Cornwall (which I won) and had people complementing me on how striking and effective my necrons looked on the tabletop. Army wise i've one for survivability over all else with dual liths, dual orbs, and 2 tomb spyders out on the flanks which ensures I always get my WBB and can reroll it for 2 units each turn. I had great fun wiping out an IG force and only losing 7 necrons in a 2000 point apoc game, though in fairness the dice rolls seemed to be on my side throughout that game. First off here's the commanders, my Twin Lords; the Lunar Herald, and Solar Herald, disciples of the Outsider: ![]() And Here's the Guardians of the tomb the Tomb Spyders and their scarabs: ![]() ![]() My two Liths in all their glory: ![]() Some shots of the warriors. All 48 of them: ![]() And the Army in its entirety: ![]() ![]() Here's one older pic showing a selection of warriors, a single WIP lith and the Solar Herald in close up: ![]() Not the best pics but I hope they show the look I was going for, Initially I was speed painting the whole army to Tabletop standard and whilst i'm no pro-painter by any stretch of the imagination i'm very pleased with how these guys turned out as well as how surprisingly effective they've been in games despite the simplicity of the list, all in all one of my better projects. Got a few touchups to do here and there then I have to decide whether I stick with my Crons or if its ebay time so I can fund a new army and try something different. In the meantime Comments and Criticisms are welcome. Thank you, Koll |

Wow,i really like these, the paint scheme really brings the 'cron models to life. The one thing i'm not fond of however,is the grassy bases.Thats just my personal preference though.
Great work and you may have just swayed me into starting a 'cron army. Mike. |

Yeah I took the Lazy option with the bases to get the army finished faster, they look ok, but i'm going to go back over the bases to thicken up the flock, and add a smattering of discarded weapons and parts of fallen enemies and necrons alike. I also have about a dozen spare scarabs which i'm going to paint up and apply a couple to the bases of the tomb spyder and possibly the Lords.
I considered having a couple of scarabs crawling over the outside hull of the Monolith, or possibly having a partial necron emerging from one of the portals, but I really think it could be a little too much and wouldn't necesarily add to the models. Once i've got the scarabs painted i'll blue tac a couple on and stick some pics up. Thanks for the comments. |

Hi,
The paint scheme is a great idea, looks great and really uniform over the entire army, although it must have taken ages to paint those monoliths!! :P The lords look brilliant, the res orbs look great. ![]() I also agree the basing doesn't look as good as the paint job however I can't really critisize anyone for that as I have 2300pts of Dwarves and 2500pts of 40K Orks all unbased :P. - Will

Desert crons look really nice actually. I think sand and more desert like ones would fit with the bases better. or mix sand and flock on the bases to get it to stick better with some. Also some yellow grass would make it look like they are less on like a well maintained sports field before the season starts.
