Default A newbie's work - Samples of Merrick's work.

I'm not the best painter in the world, but thought I might throw in some of my models before I start a proper Tau log.

BEHOLD!

Above, an Imperial Fists Dreadnought and Marine. The army never came to anything (lost my job, money dried up)

An Ork with a bayonet on his rokkit launcha. Just because.

A painted test Ork.

An old conversion, my Dreadnought. Would be my favourite model, but I'm not happy with the ancient paint job. Will make another eventually.

If I can dig out some better pictures, I may throw in some more. ;D

Yeah. If you look at your original post there should be a flag for mods. Juxtaposed cluck that and say it needs to be moved to showcase.

Your painting is actually quite good. The yellow guys would look great after you put a wash over it to capture those lines. Same goes for the dreadnaught. When painting large fflat areas like a dreadnaught to avid brush marks be patient it takes multiple coats, I had to this on a hammerhead. :-X

Hope those little tips help you.

Remember washes are your friend!

Cheers. ;D The post has been...reported. Makes it sound like I'm in the wrong. :P

Mould lines are my antichrist. I can never get round to cleaning them off, even when I say I do.
I'll try and make this different for the Tau.

All those flat red areas will be fun....

The worst thing is the tanks. You get a smmooth coat then you get paint in the lines so you repaint it. You got paint out the lines so you repaitn that area and the... you get the idea

With basing try this:

1)Put the PVA on the base and dip into the basing material.
2)Mix some PVA with water to create a slightly thicker than water liquid.
3)using a syringe Place 2 drops onto the centre of the models base. (you could use anything that a drop will collect to but syringes are easier)
4)Leave to dry then use a modelling knife to remove unwanted basing material.
5)Paint bestial brown
6)Heavy Dry brush with commando khaki
7)light drybrush of bleached bone.

Voila awesome looking yet cheap bases. also the watered down PVA makes the sand stick to the base stronger so it doesn't come off. The painting makes it look better and adds strength so sand doesn't come off the base.

I used that to batch base 70 necrons in 3 days so no excuses. :P

Never! Your tau now own your social life :P

Also you have a lot of free time while it dries as it goes something like this.

Day 1: Put on basing stuff.
Day 2: Neaten stuff up and bestial brown
Day 3: Commando Khaki and Bleached bone

Plenty of free time in there as it shouldn't take long once you have a rythem going.
