Default First Firewarrior

Well I went into GW today, got a squad of FWs and some undercoat spray with a few other paints. Took me about two hours in total to get this one done, but I guess it looks pretty good.

Although it isn't my first Firewarrior, it's my first of my new army and my return to playing 40k.

The flash of the camera made it look a little off, and the second shot is a bit too blurry. But I hope you like it.

And if you were wondering I based it on Matt Holland's Tau color scheme and one of Shas'El Tael's Tau at ATT.

Tell me what you think, thanks.

Thanks for the good comments, I'll finish up my second one tommorow and get some more pics (I'll get one of them on my GW half board that I got in a store auction about 6 years back too).

Comparing the shot and the model itself, the shot really got messed up because of the flash. I'll be sure to fix that tommorow.

Yeah, for a first Fire Warrior this looks awesome :. Not only isn't the paint too thick, but you also did multiple coats (duh , had to to get white).

My Fire Warriors only get one coat of paint 'cause I'm lazy ^-^. Maybe later I'll actually put attention to detail into my Troops...

Its a nice first attempt I would say.

Some suggestions though.

For the armor, you could try using Fortress Grey mixed with Skull White as the base. Then use pure Skull White for the highlights to make the armor seem more...3D.

Also, I noticed the flash that you did not remove on the Fire Warrior's leg. Removing it before priming is a must.

Hope to see more of your Fire Warriors in the future.

Thanks, and just to clarify,

My base is Astronomican Grey mixed with Skull white, but as I said with the flash what's displayed in the picture isn't what it truely look like. The black lines don't look as heavy as they do in the shot either.

And as for the plasic mould lines (Which I assume you're talking about?), I really don't have anything to remove it with. With 5 years of no use, things like files and pliers get lost. I do hope I can find them so I can get all the models done right.

It looks good, especially for a first time paint job. There are lots of great articles on painting lenses, they really give your models a more realistic feel, keep practicing though, it looks good.

Hmm...then I recommend that you do not use the camera flash when taking photos of your miniatures. Instead, try using a couple of lamps to light up your miniature. There are some articles on how to take nice pictures of your miniatures. You should go read up on them. They are good. =)

Do you have a modelling knife? It can work too. I used a modelling knife to remove most of the flash on my miniatures. Even on pewter ones.

Anyway, keep completing more miniatures. With time and practice, you will definitely get it right.
