now, the point is to make my bugs look like big old bumble bees. i know depending what kind you're looking at, theyre more black than yellow, but i like the yellow as it makes them stand out MUCH better in my opinion. Please leave comments, and if anyone has HELPFULL advice to make him look better - please by all means, post away.
Also, my webcam that takes these pics has some issue with not showing it bright enough, the yellow may look dumbed down abit and i apologize. the color used is Golden yellow. about 50 coats of it (this guy took me WAY too long) I've only been into 40k for 2 months now, and this is by far my best painted miniature yet, having zero previos experience. oh and i just saw someone who had a post about painting Yellow / Black Imperial Guard. The colors look awesome in my opinion, EXCEPT when trying to paint yellow over black. Mistakes that need yellow painted over black (like me and my shaky hands that cant paint small details) take tons of coats of yellow to make the black disapear. anyones, here ya go! Edit: oh and if you look at the head shots, i green-stuffed the Regeneration head and the Tusked head together, cutting the tusks off and sticking them on the regen. head. i think that came out good too. (mind you ive never done any kinds of conversions, afraid of not knowing what the heck im doing hahah.) |

Looks great, the quick and easy way to make them look organic would be to simple cover the whole model with a nice coat of devlan mud. Instant shading. That technique works great on anything with a visible muscle structure.

A+ for correct use of "pedantic".

dont know what that word means
![]() also. i was looking at threads about "dipping" models to paint them faster, my color scheme being this yellow of course... How would it work color-wise. http://warzonemag.co.cc/?p=14 if you see that link, it darkens the carnifex QUITE abit. im wondering if it would just destroy the yellow, or make it look some sickly greenish color. Anyone have some insight aobut that? oh and thanks for the comments about it. the dude took way too long to paint, its gross how long it took me to be "happy" with it |

I dip my Tyranids. I doubt it would destroy your yellow, but it does make them come out a lot different. Mine were originally a very, very bright red, but it becomes much more of a deep, blood red after the dip, not to mention a hint of brownish-black in all of the crevices due to wood stain's generic coloring.
For you, I could see it working, but it might not come out as you envision. It is worth a shot, maybe on a test model like a Gaunt or even a Ripper. If it doesn't turn out well, I would second BKZer0's suggestion of a brown wash. It'll give it shading, but it's much less extreme than dipping.
