Default First of my Warriors of Madness Berzerkers

This is the first test job from my Warriors of Madness Chaos marines. All done in liche purple with mithril silver trim. The ankle and wrist armor is left black.

Larger pics and updates will be posted to Advertising removed -Silk

Hate to say it, but he looks extremely bland, like Gordon Ramsay says about peoples food!
1) He's not based, that might be because you don't want to base them before you've decided fully on how you're going to paint them.
2) You've not got much variety in the armour and none in the trim.

How to improve:
1) Marine armour has always been hard to make look interesting, an easy way of making it pop is to area highlight, here's a guide for doing it for black, the same principals apply for any other colour apart from white, as you can't highlight white...:
http://www.thepainteddragon.co.uk/fo...p?topic=2109.0

2) You have no variation in the trim at all, it's all silver, and not highlighted. Khorne likes brass, so add a bit of brass or gold on to him, on the helmet, onto the khorne symbol, just in some places, dosen't really matter where (as long as it looks good that is)! Also, you need to highlight it, normally you'd just add a bit of mithril silver to a colour to make it lighter, but as you're using it anyway, mix it with white, for the gold highlight brazen brass with shining gold.

3) The blood on the sword is okay, but you have fallen into the same pit a lot of people do, you have used blood red. If you are going for dry blood, use darker reds, red gore etc. if you want wet blood, use inks to get that effect (GW no longer sell inks, use the stuff from a fountain pen, or buy some from vallejo, reaper or other paint company)

4) Paint the eyes on the model red, here's a great guide for doing gems, use the same principle, just in green:

Hope that's helped you.

Thanks for the comments.

I do think I need to do a bit more highlighting. The pictures don't really show the highlights all that well.

He is based, with some sand and highlights. It's not real interesting, but that is kind of the plan at the moment.

The eyes are painted red, but they could use better definition.

Oops, just noticed the basing : ...

For the eyes, use a bright red or green, green would contrast better and probably look better, red would suit the theme better, up to you really...

Yes this model needs some more contrast to make it look better. The chain sword looks too flat.

Honestly, I think if it was highlit, it would look great, the color scheme itself is fine.

A simple way to make your silver look better is to either paint the trim black then lightly drybrush it silver, or to paint it silver and do a quick inkwash in badab black.

I don't mind the colour scheme, and the paintings fine, But I agree with some people that a bit more contrasting colour and some more highlights would make the model look great.
Post up more pics afterwards if you do.

I've done some more work with a second Zerker and did a black wash over both. I think they look better, but a bit more highlighting could help.

Advertising removed again - if i see it a third time it will warrant a smite - SILK

I would paint the khorne symbol on the belt a different color :P

Sorry, nit picking. Looks pretty decent.

Looking good, the basing's more obvious this time aswell.
But still, some colour variation somehwere would be nice.

Also, Your advertising was removed last time and it's just going to happen again. It is against the rules so I would stop doing it, You've got the link in your sig which is fine, people will follow through if they want to.
