Default Dark, Creepy, Not Quite Cannon Tau

This badge is a link to pictures in my Tau army! Click the "See all Yawg's pictures tagged 'WH'" section for the full list.

These are my first attempts at painting minis, so forgive me if they suck. :-[

I don't really consider them done, but they were "done enough" that I didn't want to put them in the painting section.

Please, ANY and all criticisms are welcome. Any advice for improvement would help me greatly.

If you have any questions, let me know. The Hammerhead's railgun is kinda droopy, because it's not glued on. The random chaos marines are guys I got really cheap, and painted for fun. I painted the crisis suit, BEFORE I saw the crazy tron-esque hammerhead in the TO mini's gallery, which supprised me, but afterwards I tried to learn as much as I could from looking at that guys work. (Looking at it gave me the idea to add highlights to the turqoise)

Taking these pictures, sizing em for the web and such, took a bit of effort, so I hope this can be productive! Thanks in advance.

Oh, bloody hell. That's what I get for trying to be fancy.

Check them out here:

And I feel silly for making such a mess.

Just leave my left arm, head, and torso. I need those for painting.

Any less inane comments? haha

I had difficulty with the texture, because the paint I used to prime them kinda... sucked.

Would clear varnish or the like help fix that? Make it look like shiny metal again?

GW Citadel. I like the stuff, what can I say.

But the stealths and the hammerhead were primed with some really cheap shit. It's matte, but it leaves a weird texture. Never again, man.

Man, you really ought to stop inflating your post count. Sometimes you say the most inane, and silly things. I'm no angel myself, when it comes to forums, but there were some explicit rules about that in the introductory sections.

Very nicely done.

I like the darker look and feel to them.

I cant believe you havent been painting very long they look good way better than when I first started.

The primer deal I have had it happen alot.
Try not to paint to far away.
With primer you can be pretty close and it shouldn't run.
Its not your fault sometimes you just get bad paint and primer.

I think your stuff looks very cool and coming along nicely great job.

Oh one question are your Tau red or is there faces painted up when they go into combat like brave heart or something.

Not a bad thing and red is fine I am totally just curious?

They're red-faced. At first I wanted them all to have helmets, but I decided to use the open-faced heads a few times/ I might even try to make a whole unit of helmetless ones, with as many carbines as possible, give them war-paint and stuff...

Not the best, game wise, but aestetically cool, and good fluff-bait =p
