Default More Minis

Hi all...

Well, I know I said I'd post these alot sooner, but things get kinda busy around here.

The Farseer's finished, and I'll be painting him up when I get some time.*

The Chaos Lord is an old model that I never finished, but since I'm working on a core Deathguard force, he's been dusted off and will be finished hopefully soon.

The Dark Eldar Archon still needs some final detailing.* My friend will be the one painting him though...as he's much better at it than I am...multiple Golden Demon winner that he is, and whatnot... ;D

Still working on a Tau Ethereal...will post that when I get a chance...

Oh man! You're sculpting skills are awesome.

If you wouldn't mind, is there any chance you could post up some tutorials so those of us that aren't as adept can benefit from your skills and experience.

I for one, would love to learn how to sculpt minis. I've got the armatures made for two Tyranid Malefactors, but don't know where to go from there for sculpting them. So any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers!

Thanks for the encouragement guys...!

Um...let's see if I can answer some questions...

a) The putties I used for the Farseer and Archon were Green Stuff, Brown Stuff and Premo. Premo's a polymer clay, and it's what I've always sculpted with before I started doing minis. It's still good for mini originals, but for sculpting minis for gaming or reproduction, stick with GS.

b) Tutorials...hmmm. I have to say, there are a ton of sculpting tutorials on the web by sculptors much better than I...and if my lastest browser upgrade hadn't killed my bookmarks, I'd post a links.

But if you're really looking to learn sculpting from the best, join up with the egroup on yahoo called 1listsculpting...you'll have to do a search for it, but it's the best resource for anyone looking to sculpt minis. I'll post a link when I get a chance.

I'll try to post maybe a "tips" section sometime...meanwhile, feel free to ask me any questions...I'll do my best to answer...

thanks again for the kind words guys..

Shaso

Start by laying on a thin layer of Green Stuff over the armature, adding bulk for thicker areas of the body. Let that harden and then just start laying on the GS, one section at a the time. I usually start at the bottom and work my way up, starting one leg at a time and then to the torso, then the head. Do the arms last after bending them into the final position.

hope that helps...

Very impressive. Love it man. I can't wait to see a force of those things. That Chaos Lord looks wicked too. I'd love to see him painted up Deathguard!

Very nice work! Definitely keep that up and keep us updated with how they get painted!

Thanks! It was actually your influence that got me digging out the old Chaos Lord...otherwise he'd still be sitting in my bitz box somewhere.

He should be fun to paint, and I've been checking out other folk's color schemes for Deathguard and Nurgle in general. Didn't know so many people were fans of Deathguard, and after talking to you, I now know why, lol.

The Lord still needs work though...his nose, as someone already mentioned, is in need of repair, as I accidentally lopped it off one night long ago and hastily glued it back on. Some of his fingers are missing from his power claw, and some spikey bitz have fallen off as well. And I'm not sure long flowing hair is exactly 'Nurgle-ish', so I may redo the head as well...bald and putrifying....yea, that's it...lol.
