Default Eldar Vypers

Just completed a squad yesterday... a bit more highlights maybe here and there and some cleanup... these were reconstructed and re-colored from previously owned models I picked up from Ebay... my the windraider warhost is almost complete...

Very nice, the red and white are solid, and the patterns are good too.

I've always wanted to do a Saim-Hann army, but i always shy away because of the red scheme(which i have difficulties painting).

So i would appreciate any tips you have,or a small tutorial!

These are supurb! Very well done! They look as if they are from out of the codex! The only thing is to spray the model (without the cockpit) with a matte coat to tone down the transfer's gloss.

Those are amazing! Are those freehands on the helmets? Definitely codex quality at the very very very least!

Hey, thanks guys.

For this batch, I used the foundation paint (mechrite red, I think) and just apply it direct over the black basecoat. Use blood red mixed with a bit of water. To give an idea on how dilute or thick it should be, imagine melted butter. That kinda thickness and flow should be adequate.

Now, apply the first layer of blood red once on all the surface (leave out the armor panel joint lines) and don't worry about the un-evenness at this stage. When it is dried, go back for a second layer.

Mix Fiery Orange and blood red (50/50) for the highlights of the armour. Just run it along the armour panel lines and don't worry to much about blending yet.

after you're done, apply another layer of blood red over the vyper. The color should be more opaque by now and try to overlap a bit over the highlights applied earlier. you'll get to see a decent transition between the armor edge with the highlights the inbetweens and the blood red panel.

now go back and restore some of the chaos black parts.

Hope this helps...

Brilliant job there!

Almost looks like they're straight from the Codex!

Oh, wow. Where the heck did you come from and why haven't I gotten to see any of your Eldar before? Nice work. The scheme and execution are both textbook. Phenomenal work, mate.

Haha the above poster said just what I was thinking right before I read down the comments. Hats off... for two reasons... #1 Vypers just rock to begin with, #2 They seriously do look like 'GW' standard for 'eavy metal, perfect Saim-Hann colorings. I am jealous of your skilliness and attention to all that detail in the coloration and the perfectionist emblems and such added. I never did get the hang of using the decals very well, but your look like they are right out of a 'how to paint Saim-Hann' guide or something.
