Well, this is my first post in a while...getting back into the swing of things by painting my D&D character (He's a Half-Elf Druid). First humanoid I've really painted, and I think I did pretty well. And yes, that is a Tyranid claw masquerading as a scythe.

Not bad, but I think it could use defention (if I spelled it right).

The subdued palette looks really good and the highlighting is really well done; but, I think you need just one bright color to help it really pop.
Everything sorta blends together in this picture.

I think better pictures might help...unfortunately, the good camera was with my dad on a business trip.
Fortunately it's back now, so tomorrow (when I can get natural light) I should have better pictures. Also, I kind of agree that it needs some color to make it really stand out...hmm, maybe a bit of red in the scythe? I'll have to think on it.

Very nicely done.
Maybe if you made the green slightly lighter it would help it 'pop' as Melkor said. |

Oh look, better pics
![]() ![]() ![]() These were taken with a MUCH better camera under MUCH better light (natural daylight). This looks much truer to the real thing. I think I need to work on making my highlights blend better...and look straighter. Ah well, that will have to wait till I get my next set of minis in.

It is better, but still needs the better definition, some that actually makes it come alive, maybe a last highlight.

I think it looks great. Any more highlighting and it might be a bit over the top.

Thanks all...
You're right, it does need something...I'm planning the base now, and hopefully that will help complete it. See, he's a druid, and so I wanted it to look natural--leather and wood, maybe some vines, and green...a yellow or red somewhere, on the scythe or chest would do it I think, but I don't want to break my current scheme...and I know flowers and such are colorful but... Maybe a red-orange (or a golden yellow) on the bandoleer thing across his chest? I don't think it needs more highlights though...a better highlighting job maybe, but not more of them. Overall I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out, as my first non-'nid, and my first experiment with flesh as well. I think the hawk might be a bit plain, but I didn't want it detracting from the main figure. It's also nice to be painting a stand-alone figure, and not a whole swarm.
