Default Inquisitor Moses and his trusty Harem Chirurgeon

By Inquisitorial Mandate! The following is a model which I have come to call "Moses" simply because he looks like a figure from an old Charlton Heston film. Actually, it's just a nice break to use an old line of models (Reaper minis) in 40k fashion (think of all the cash I just saved... wooo).

Anyhow, I was just tickled by the idea of him as an Inquisitor so quickly gave him some paint to let him stand back with the Cadians and tell them who the heretics are.

Heavily played model - so don't mind that he's messy, just thought I'd share the idea!

In that case, so is sex. Therefore, pornstars and prostitutes are professional athletes.

pretty good, but IMO you need some more transitional layers in the white robes, whlie the red robes need some deeper shadows, and the book and purity seal could do with some nice subtle shadows in the folds and recesses. the skin and hair look lovely tho

Bloodied:

Well, come to think of it I need to fix Moses haha. More on that though...

I'll try some ink wash on the book/seals to see about a quick fix on the shadow stuff, and as for the cloth, I'll see about a deeper red on the shadows. The color is washed out as it is, so I'll do a few fixes and repost with a better lighted shot.

By the way - how do you do eyes? I can never seem to dot them in the center... drives me nuts sometimes!
After finishing Tau, I'll probably go back and fix him up a bit. Along with the little chirurgeon girl too. For now though, he's parting the red seas of Tryanid too often to get him on my desk hehe.

Thanks!

dot of black, then a dot of white slightly smaller than the dot of black, then a dot of plack as the pupil, carefully bracing my hand...like you said, its tricky. i can't always get the dots right, so the eyes look like they're pointed in the same direction

however, an alternate way i've heard some people to it is to do the first 2 step i've listed, then when it comes to dotting the pupil, they get a really fine pen (i forget what they're called, someone help me out here), and use that instead . might make your task a whole bunch easier

Ahh yes... a felt tipped pen. That would be so much easier. My brushes generally aren't straight enough and my hand isn't steady enough to make nice dots. I've always had to just make a "slit" instead of a dot and then paint white on the edges to clean it up, then repaint the skin around the eye, etc. Long process...

Thanks though!

Beautiful figs Malveaux! It's always nice to see someone step outside of the usual gw range to add character and uniqueness to his army.
About the eye dots... I've always ( on the original advice of a veteran mini painter ) used a .05 marker for pupils. You can find them at any art supply store ( sharpie, staedtler, micro, all good ). A word of advice- the first dot will be easy and but you must "reload" the marker ( recap and let stand with tip down for a minute ) or the 2nd one will not look even, or will not have any ink on it at all.The little tips don't hold much ink, so it takes a few minutes but is worth it-different markers will have different "recovery" times so experiment and it becomes like clockwork.
