Default DE Sculpt

Ok...

While it's still a work in progress, I figured I'd toss these snapshots up, see what people think.

It's a mini I'm sculpting of the Dark Eldar Archon at the very back of the Codex..always thought there should be a mini of that figure, and since there isn't, I figured I'd make one.* Not that I field a DE army...I just like the image. I need to be finish sculpting my Farseer and Ethereal, but that's another story.

It's since been worked on, and alot more detail has been added...I just haven't shot anymore pictures because the digital camera I have stinks to high heaven for shooting minis.* I'm hoping to borow my fiend's camera next week, and take better pics.* I'll post the finished mini all painted and whatnot, when it's done.

Wow. That's an impressive piece of work. I can't sculpt for beans, yet, so my hat's off to you.

I salute you .

the shoulders could be a bit pointier but apart from the lack of poke and bleed factor you've got DE down

Oh the shoulders are alot pointier...lots more hair blowing in the wind...as well as a nice cloak...it's still a work in progress, and I've added alot more detail since I took those pics* (about 6 days ago)

I just don't have any recent images because of the camera thing.* By early next week I should have some updated images to post.* I'm also waiting on some Brown Kneadatite...which is a harder putty than Green Stuff.* I need a stronger putty for the long claws this figure will have.

Thinking a base of skulls might be appropriate.

Thanks for the kind words guys...more to come.

thanks for the kind words Mal

um...let's see...The sculpt is a combination of Polymer Clay (Fimo) over Green Stuff. I'm not the biggest fan of Green Stuff...I just am not crazy about the way it handles. I love working with Fimo though. The good news is, alot of the sculptors across the pond use Fimo with amazing results in the minis. Check out the Confrontation line of minis and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Fimo's also pretty durable, so more no worries about it being too fragile than you would with a plastic mini. Too bad I don't have a DE army....I might've actually used this fig...lol.

I have a Farseer, an Ethereal in the works...possibly a Sisters Canoness if I get the chance.

Wow.

Going to ahve to see if I can find some of that stuff. I have some problems with green stuff as well and the other stuff I tried using doesn't hold detail very well.
