Default Ork Commandos

By frozenfoxx at 2007-09-29

By frozenfoxx, shot with hp 635 Digital Camera at 2007-09-29

The commando with the powerklaw is Max, who happens to be towing around Boogah on his back. Sam is the other commando with the mean looking choppa, who happens to be bearing the secret weapon on his back: a quaint little rocket launcha.

I took Thor's advice on 'dirtying' up the white. Thank you Thor; it does look a lot better imo.

Edit: "We're on your washer, ****ing up your Bleach."

They look good!! But for next time I think that you should use less colours, this might sound like a wierd suggestion but sometimes too many colours can make a model very difficult to look at. Look at 'Eavy metal miniatures and you will see that most of the time they pick two main colours and then add a few small detail colours.

I like your lenses! Keep going with your painting. I can already see an improvement from you last post!

Thank you! Now as a joke, and only a joke concerning the colors: I'm an artist who opens her eyes in the morning and only sees rainbows in the world. I have to put these rainbows on my boyz, so after a hard day of krumpin', killin', and drinkin', the rainbows will survive the apocalypse they wrought.

Now seriously concerning the colors: I've checked out the 'eavy metal ones and I don't like them. They feel very boring and uniform. I read in the codex that that is not the way of the orks. I picked the ork army because I wanted to have fun painting all their little bits and bringing out the different personalities. This is suppose to be a fun army to paint and play.

Thank you for your POV. It makes me reflect upon my work a little more objectively. This morning before I set out to finish these two, I looked at the codex and studied the way GW did it.

Looks great, the only thing that pops out for me is the Space Marine helmet which just looks like it's been drybrushed - maybe some further highlighting would be better?

Nice orks overall, though, I like the goggles on the left one a lot.

Yeah, in this picture the space marine helmet doesn't look too great. I had painted the space marine helmet with blue and then inked it with a darker blue, except the eyes and the 'mouth grill' which were inked with a black wash. In the pic here, the dry brush looks blueish, but in fact it's white like the stick bomb and the dynamite. It's suppose to look like it's got snow on it. Stupid camera.

The goggles did come out surprisingly well. I'm thinking about going back and fixin' the other goggles, despite FOXX's opinion that I should leave 'em alone.

Very nice! That toned down white looks 10x better and has the much needed depth the previous ones lacked.
