Default XV25 Stealthsuit

OK, I tried a new approach on this team.

This was the original technique (drybrushed the entire model):

And here's the new one (extreme highlighting):

What do you think? Which one do you like better?

I love the new one. The first one was way to bland for my tastes. Great job on the highlighting.

Also, a tip on general stealth... the color black almost never occurs naturally, so it would be logical to have camo for whatever terrain your cadre is going to be operating in.

Oh, yeah I know.*I was going for either a night fighting camo-active or a deactive camo. I fight in both city and forests and ice, so I didn't want to dedicate to a terrain-specific scheme. Plus I just think it looks cool, kind of quasi-splinter cell with the green night vision and stealthsuit.** ;D

Oh, and by the way, I also was thinking about a differecnt technique, where I used hightlighting and then a black ink and then a gloss finish. See my vindicare assassin pics I also put up today.

I think that the stealths are often painted black to represent the absence of color or visibility, because you can't actually see them. That's what I had in mind when I painted mine mainly black. I just did grey and red outlines.

WRONG! I love proving people wrong.

You see, black is one of the most common natural colors. Shadows.

Well, black technically isn't a color, just a complete absence of color...

Anyway, I like the second one, though I prefer XV-15 suits myself. the new ones are too bulky to be stealthy.

However, I've got to say, I love the fact that they're plastic. It makes everything way easier.
I also like how the new kit is... I don't know how to explain it, but sharper. I beleive thats because they're using computer engineering to do thier newer kits (stealths, cities of death, carnifex, etc..) so they can get more precise. There was an article on that in WD a while back I think.

Well, when you consider that a shadow isn't actually black. I mean you can take a photo of your shadow if you want, take a colour dropper of a pixel of your shadow and compare it to what MS Paint or Photoshop says is black. There will be a massive difference. But I digress.

I think the new technique looks much better, not to mention that extreme highlighting can teach you how to refine your highlights down, making them very thin and precision is an important part of painting well.

Though interestingly it would be easier to pick out something wearing black at night than wearing a dark red or other such dark colour, since cones in your eye which pick up colour don't have as great a clarity at night as the rods which pick up black and white do

I really like. Very basic, but still very effective. I mean, they are Stealthsuits, they shouldn't be all flashy! It reminds me of Splinter Cell.
