So at my near GW, they had the demo space marines - the blue and gold ultras, the store manager primed them black so people could try them out. I have just put together one full squad of neophytes and initiates, counting 20 men. 230 points about. They have the upgrade pack for the Black Templars as well. This marine was a demo marine I wanted to try before painting my real army. Its my first marine ever.

Anyway, nice paint job, is that all done freehand? or some transfers?

The demo space marines are the ones that people can paint when you go to the store - the pre painted ones, they also have one for orcs and lotr. This was painted all freehand with a fine detail brush and small drybrush.

Ah ok i see, they dont have them at my local GW.

Also some nice freehand you did on that mini.

yeah nice freehand.

The highlights of the black is a bit heavy.. to bright and to broad.. you could try watering down some black ink or wash and lightly cover the highlighted areas.
Also the blue that is showing underneath is a bit iritating you should take some more care with the basecoat.

Overall a good early result!

Yeah I think I put too much highlighting...oh well. Good thing this is a demo marine.
