Default tau fire warrior test piece

Yippee just got first one done, took me a while to find time but I'm on half term so i have bags of it now.

I'm quite proud of it even with the few bits of uneven coverage.

This is my test piece for the scheme so i want C&C please

yes i know this needs improving

I really need a bigger pic...

From what I can see though, the white looks a little blotchy...that's why I stay away from white, it's too hard to paint.

Nice distinct lines, not just splattered on, nice colour scheme, and a flocked base! It's not often round here that someone makes even a rudimentary attempt at their model's base, so kudos to you...although it might make sense to paint the rest of it white to match the snow?

Your just jealous!

Looks good my friend, wish i had the balls to paint white...i played it safe with white in the crevasses of the armour, black for the material and blue for the armour.

Putting the white in is a bit like grouting tiles.............

Nice job!

and bear in mind these are only my troops so they don't have to look picture perfect just adequate. With these pics i can see the blotchy parts.

You really should take pride in every model you do - that away you havea very impresive army in the end. Always worth to put the extra effort in.

My real complaint is that he seems to have been painted hastily over a black undercoat. I know he's only a concept piece so I'll let you off

Have you not considered using skull white undercoat?

I have absolutley no money for another week so i cant get some skull white undercoat and yes he is a test piece. Also if i am too picky with my troops i lose my train of 'production' an i get bored. This is why i cant fully finish an army i think :-\

ah heck! We're all guilty of doing that.

Tell you what - would you like me to paint up one of my spare fire warriors in your colours, and do it well, to show you what can be done?
