Default My First Painted Dreadnought [Pic Heavy]

Alright, I am a newer player to 40k and this is an addition to my Space Marine army. I am hoping to see what other people's feedback is. So, please comment.

I just painted my first dread too

I like the battle damage. Well done there. You need some good highlighting though - if you don't know what that is, please just say so and I'll be happy to further explain. The red's a little bright for my tastes.

But not bad for your first dreadnaught!

I really like the rust/burnt metal around the flamer nozzel and the minor battle detail-it goies well with the base.

Nice colour scheme. The paint application isn't great but I see you're pretty new to 40k, so that will improve with some practice. One other thing is that the wires next to the sarcaughagus dont look right in the colours you've chosen. Yu miht want to re-think the bleached bone and the green in favour of something that goes with the silver body a lil better

Still it's not bad for someone who's just started

I have to say not bad for your first dead you may want to consider washing the metallic parts with black or black-brown ink to give it a worn used look

That looks pretty good. Waaaay better than my first vehicle...oh boy...

Those pictures took me awhile to find. Mind you that's Mithril Silver not white (What was I thinking?) As you can see yours is obviously superior.

Lol, nice rhino space puppy.

About the Dread Yugo, I like the scheme, but like fish said, the colors of the wires and sarcauphagous just don't match. And also, paints a little thick, otherwise its pretty good. I too like the scortched metal around the flamer and the base works well with the model.

Cheers!

Yes i believe that the wires aren't that great, but I had absolutely no idea what colours to use. Anybody have any ideas?

The two primary colours are really up to you, but they ought to go well together and they should influence your choice of colours for the smaller parts. You should try to pick a subtle/neutral colour for 'background' parts like the cables if the model is otherwise dark. Bright colours tend to catch the eye, and you don't want people to be drawn to such areas of the model. Also, try not to use too many colours, as you tend to wind up with a walking rainbow. For mechanical areas, pipes and cables, the safe bet is to just drybrush boltgun metal onto a basecoat of chaos black.

Bear in mind that while silver is bright, it's not 'loud' if you get my meaning. For all intents and purposes, it's just grey...so any vibrant colours you put next to it are going to clash.

Nice work on the battle damage by the way, it's great for a first model.
