Default Firewarrior squad, weathered and caped

Here's the first Firewarrior squad for my new Tau army. Inspired by the Farsight enclave conversion on the GW website, I thought I'd give leather cloaks to all my Firewarriors. I've also painted some battle damage onto their armor.

Great work I dig the battle damage the cloaks add to the vagabond look

Normally I hate weathered tau (it goes against everything they stand for, in a way) but these are really, really nice.

And by really nice I mean great job. Wow!
The weathering is great, the capes are good too. The only suggestion I would say is that the cape's holes seem to be the same(ish) size, try putting some larger and smaller tears and holes in there.

But great job. And amazing GS work on the capes (did you make them from greenstuff?)

Thanks for the compliments, guys!

Yeah, the capes are greenstuff. It was my first time using it - and it's easier to use than I thought. On my next squad I'll wait until it hardens a little more before I start sculpting, though.

They're really well painted. The cloaks look awesome.

I have one criticism though: They're over battle damaged. Instead of looking like they've been in combat a bit, they look like they picked up some really old armro that was scheduled to be scrapped and put it on. Not that its painted badly(Because its painted great) its just painted to look REALLY old to the point where I doubt a Tau soldier would get into armor that beat up anymore.

I disagree; I think it looks like they've been through hell and backi, and with the scars to prove it! Very nice work, and the cloaks are great. Keep it up!

Cheers, spacmarine2000

Looks good. It's giving me some motivation to get started painting up my firewarriors.

SWEET! I like it when people put battle damage on their Tau it's a nice break from the normally completely scratchless armor.
