Default Models I scratch built.

Well, thought I'd share this with you all, here is my site, I have a few Tau up and plan to sculpt some sorta walker, not sure yet if I should, or make a flyer. Anyway, Ideas are welcome, I'd love to hear some. I'll post a few links to some I have sculpted along with my site that has the news page: http://hivetrygon.com/

A Nurgle Titan I made 40K scale http://hivetrygon.com/cha/ntit.html

A Trygon http://hivetrygon.com/tyr/try.html

A Bio-titan 40K scale http://hivetrygon.com/tyr/bt.html

My Cthulhu in progress shots http://hivetrygon.com/cth/cthu.html

Any way, I want to make some sorta model for my Tau that would be very destructive from VDR and thought a walker would be cool, must admitt saw grey deaths. I think a flyer would be more appropriate though. I am thinking of the manta missle destroyer in mind but something slightly different. Ideas? ;D Also thought of some Kroot warsphere but I don't have a merc army so not sure it would be appropriate.

You know I have to say wel first thanks for dropping my name that was cool of you and then I have to say with how good you are you should do the Warsphere!

You could make something so cool.

But I admit a walker isn't taken to serious by most tau players and most say it does not fit with an advanced race at all.

So I would suggest the flyer or the Warshpere.
To bad about not having a mercenary army but I do.
Hint Hint..... ;D

Well Flyer or Warshpere is my likes.

Good luck and of course show us please!??

that Nurgle titan is very stylish ;D

a walker is scorned by some but if it was equipped with jup jets (like battletech) it would make it more tau like but avoid the chicken feet ;D adapting a dsign from mechwarrior would work well IMO.

No problem, you are one of the most creative converters I have ever met, I mean EVER! I even said so at shadow. Remember when I said you inspired me to get back to work on my Tau, well you did. ;D Anyway, I want a merc army very badly but living in an apt. makes it impossible, I am cramped now with all my stuff. I agree with the walker, in fact that was my own thoughts as well, I just love battle suits and wanted to sculpt a huge one with hammer head rail guns on the arms instead of plasma rifils. Anyway, I'll probably do the manta missle destroyer. I love the pic in the book with one dropping an etherial with jet pack. I know it will have a large missle mounting for multiple seeker missles and 2 ion cannons on it. The shape will be the more difficult part might have to sculpt it with bondo to make it very sleek and smooth.

I know a warspheer would also be very sweet to build. I'd make it Ork"ish" with tons of rivits and such, not sure about propulshion though? A single set of engines any ideas on that, or any one seen much fluff about it?

I'd love to see a scratch-manta, it'd be nice to have a reference alternative to FW's one.

You know I was looking at theirs today and it hit me, they are not real close to the fluff in the book, or at least it seems to me. I read in there it was a massive weapon platform holding a full unit of Tau, or a whole small army I mean. It states 2 large ion blasters, loads of seeker missles, and what not. Basicaly it says an equivalent of a titan in fire power, yet the FW one transports drones? What the h#*& were they thinking on it? I feel their desing is way cool but way off topic for the flyer. I guess I'll be trying to decide what to use for the understructure, probably some plastic card cut into wing shapes and bulked out, sanded and them almost buffed smooth. The cockpit and hull of the ship having a foam core or plastic card core in a box for making it open and close, it's definately going to be a big project. I wonder if buing a model aircraft kit and sculpting over it would be the way to go? :-\

can you find a plate shaped aircraft model?

and no the FW one isnt very fluffy as it should hold what is essentially a combat patrol in it, but then it would be too large for 40k to practically make use of it.

Actaully that might not be to bad.
I saw one.........
Where did I see it????

It was from Star Trek I think?
Ya maybe you could do something with it?

As far as the Warsphere dot worry about it without a army dot do it.

And Oh ya I remember but I cant believe you where that serious! ;D
So manta seems the best fit.

But look around for that model I think you could realy start with a nice conversion and then into a full blwo work of art that you do with your modeling skills!

Cant wait.

*just sits here waiting until hivetrygon posts the finished model*

I know I saw some platish shapped flyer from some model shop but can't remember, was not star treck though, battle star galactica possibly? I think a convert would be good for the first version as well, a learning in prog ship.

I guess the warsphere could be used with Tau anyway, I mean kroot fight for them as well, may be it would be another type of heavy support for them. I'll make something up. ;D
