don't be too harsh i know i didn't do as good a job as i can but 4 somereson every time i paint a SM it dosent come out very good.

well im way ahead of you on the 1st one(j/k), but i did notice that but i don't really care because i think those models look sweet i plan on using them to creat the rest of my iluminati, but keep in mind im not making a ful fledged army(yet) im just making a few models. and im going to mak some fluf about the iluminati and name them all after angels. this ones name is Zeruel.
P.S i also got the limited edition SM from games day and im gonna use him as well

I think he looks pretty darn cool and you can tell you put alot of work into him so you should be proud of him.

I like the angel theme and how are you going to come up with enough angel names for every figure???

i found real angel names online from a judeo-christian religion there are about 12 of them other than the average gabriel and stuff.
here's my next guy he is named ramiel
i tryed to acheive a glowing affect with the thing dangling from his belt, and i tryed to make the sword look like it's powered, that about all i gotta say so on with the pics

Cool idea but i would start at the top.

Force commander = Jahova
Then look in the bible for some angel names

I'm not that religious but becareful i guess the false idol thing is a biggie so dont worship your marines 2 much.

Your marines look great tho. the last pick the paint looked kinda blochy so just rember smooth even strokes. I always use a peace of soft sponge 2 finish my models with ink washes or to even my paint.

when i 1st started with sm i had like an inch of paint on them looked so horrible.

ok, coupla things: the greenstuff on that looks a little rough. not to worry, mine usually does before i finish it: get some 1200 grit sandpaper and sand it down. that should make it look nice and smooth. also, you want deeper crevices on that section of robe. and next, that GS looks a little thick. next time you work GS, instead of getting one thick piece and working it, put down a thinner piece to delineate where you want to be working. let that dry, then just put down more GS. ie work in layers. with cloth like this, you'd probably be best working one fold at a time, letting it dry, and then working the next fold

now, for the painting of the robes: if you think you're up to it, i'd avoid just having that one thick line of shading deep down in the crevice. instead, start with a colour like snakebite leather, and start mixing on bleached bone for more successive highlights, you ideally wanna end up with bleached bone only on the highest edges

and moving on: other than whta i've mentioned, these guys look pretty reasonable to me . despite what people think, marines are one of the harder races to paint really well. its to do with all those large bare areas, plus getting the look of the little panels exactly right that makes it tricky. in comparison, most races are a breeze (robes and highly segmented armour are much much easier to paint to a high standard ). so keep experimenting, and show us the results

oh, and finally, name one of your guys uriel. not only is he (IIRC) an angel of death, but he's got a cool name, plus he's a nifty character from quake 3...and if you wanna get way out, you could name one of them abaddon (also an angel )
